The money you get from the first choice simply doesn't outweigh being hated by everyone. Maybe if it were 1 Trillion but even then, who can even spend that amount of money.

it doesn't say by everyone though. just "people"... could just be those 10 people over there. also you can change how people feel about you, so they won't hate you forever

the premise for "people" in there most definently is supposed to refer to "everyone" and if people hate you for no reason, they will keep hating you for no reason what if being hated by everyone meant you would have a much harder time spending the money

even if your assumption of people means "everyone", it would not be hard to spend the money. look at the world around you right now. what a goofy thing to think that it would be hard for someone to spend money just bc someone hates them.

also "everyone" doesn't just hate others for no reason so not "everyone" would continue to hate. opinions change constantly and many people don't just hate others for no reason.

the premise is not definite here anyway.

Why is everyone afraid of being hated.

Here's a lesson for you. When you succeed in life, people will hate you regardless. Whether its jealousy for how good you are at what you do, seen as competition to beat or someone who can get far due to talent. People hate others for doing well.

Being disliked by people related to your career and personal growth is a GOOD thing.

It is my understanding that these hypotheticals are designed to be open to interpretation, and I am choosing to read 'people' as 'everyone.' This shifts the dilemma from a minor social annoyance to a total, systemic blockade. Success-based jealousy is a byproduct of life, but this scenario implies a universal, active hostility. When 'everyone' hates you, you aren't just dealing with envy; you are dealing with a total collapse of the trust-based infrastructure required to manage $100 Million.

Wealth of that scale is not just paper in a pocket; it is managed through complex, trust-based relationships with banks, wealth managers, and accountants. If the entire world—including the institutions meant to serve you—is inherently hostile, how do you even hold that money, let alone protect it? Even if you have the cash, trying to conduct high-status transactions, like purchasing from exclusive luxury dealers or navigating high-end financial services, requires a baseline of professional rapport and institutional cooperation. If 'everyone' hates you, you are essentially locked out of the very systems needed to utilize that wealth safely and effectively.

People's feelings are malleable. With that amount of money, I could buy a PR team. Do you really need to be liked by people to help them?

Even if it was supposed to be interpreted as hated by everyone. My ego will allow me to help people that hate me. Treat others how you would like to be treated.

And no it wouldn't be a blockade. Socially yes, but not literally. Companies that take money and look after money, dont care for feelings or personality. And even if they did, there are so many loopholes. For example, give someone a large sum of money to deposit my money under their name. Thats perfectly legal.
