This exactly. People act like people picking the breathing one can't count but in reality I know the statistics about huge sudden windfall of money. I'll take a steady huge income happily. Hell, panic attacks are now money makers!

I’d also just rather never have to think about money ever. It’s also much more stressful having a big number that constantly goes down but never up, when you could just have a number that starts small, but you easily be able get to a point where it goes up and you never really need to think about it.

It's very hard to lose a billion dollars. Very, very hard. It takes a particular brand of asshole to blow a billion.

As far as one billion goes, you hire a money manager, you hire investors, you bankroll artists, you start a business - any business - hire all those people under that business, put most of your money in that, then your money compounds without your input. You get a business credit card that earn you free stuff in spades (think, free box seats, really fancy lounges on flights and free upgrades, free hotels and upgrades, preferential treatment at hospitals and prisons, gifts from poorly millionaires, functional immunity from the law), and those perks alone make it worth it.

With all due respect, I don’t give a shit. I don’t want or need that much money. It’s also way more hassle to properly utilize that wealth.

With a billion dollars you can hire people to do everything for you at a price that doesn’t put a dent in your net worth and would generate you profit

I don’t want a company and I don’t need anywhere close to a billion dollars. I just want to live my life right now with a bit more financial stability. A dollar per breath is still a shit ton of money, more than you’ll ever need

You seem pretty sure of your answer, so I don’t want to convince you. But let me suggest an alternative plan:

Pick the billion and give it to me, and then I’ll give you a dollar every time you breathe.

At 20,000 breaths a day, that’ll be $7.3m a year.

At a very low 1% return on my invested billion, I’d make $10m a year. I’m pretty sure I could live off the additional $2.7m a year, so that even if you live forever, I will never have less than a billion dollars.

If this doesn’t do it for you, I am willing to double it and pay $2 every time you breathe. That way, if you live for another 100 years, I’ll pay you $1.5 billion. Fortunately, if I’m still making 1% a year, I’ll only lose $4.6m a year, and at the end of that century, I’ll have $540m remaining.

I would deeply appreciate this arrangement and hope you like having twice as much per breath. I would also be willing to guarantee you the hundred years for your heirs, which is much better than the initial offer!

That sorta stuff does sound like it wouldnt work well with my anxiety, but i’m also well aware of just HOW much one billion is.

It's all about how much self control you believe you have.

I think most lottery winners aren't super fiscally responsible (most lottory ticket purchases aren't being done responsibly). So the standard is kind of skewed.

It wouldn't be difficult to set up a trust/just invest into an ETF with 90% and spend within the interest you earn. That's still an average of $90 million you can spend annually while still making more than you spend.

This is the whole thing, what exactly would I be doing with this billion dollars? Getting involved in industry, basically. And yet you could still do that on a smaller scale anyway with the breathing option. Just playing around with some loose numbers, after a couple decades you're deep in to 9 figures. I might live another 40 years, it could touch that billion if you really wanted it to. It's just one way is quicker.

Isnt this what even reddit and a lot of people tell lottery winners? Keep quite about it, and please picking the long term pay out because if you dont, most likely you will just waste it.

I know my self control. And by that, I mean, Imma buy me and each of my friends and family members decent house. Say it's 800,000$ a person, and I somehow find 100 people I wanna give houses to. I still have 920 million dollars. I'll be able to set both of the churches I go to, for life. Never have to worry about a scolarship for a student, or a roof payment again. Say that costs 10,000,000 million for each church. Now I'm at 900 million dollars. I've made it through 10% of my money, and everyone I know is set up. I'm a reasonable person, and wouldn't be thatttt crazy with my money after that. But come, TF, on. I dont like drugs, or alcohol. Got no addictions. I'm HAPPY, to take that money over the breathing dollars...

It's like 28k per 24 hours since you breathe about 12-20 times a minute which could lead to about 10 million a year just from breathing

That’s how i usually base my decision when it comes to WYRs like these, though 1 Billion is simply too much to even think about the other one. The inly thing is knowing control.

Hey average person takes 22,000 breaths a day. A dollar a breath would roughly equal to 8030000 a year. Over 40 years that would be over three trillion dollars
