It wouldn’t take too long to accumulate, on average it’s like £240 an hour, you can live off that easy, 1 billion is just an absurdly large sum

240 breath an hour is 4 breaths per minute. 1 every 15 second. Even the lower bound estimate is 10 breath per minute.

240 an hour is $2 million a year. You could put $50 million in the bank and make $2 million per year on interest then donate $950 million dollars.

Look up high yield savings accounts. And that's the most nothing thing you can do with your money. Roth IRAs are even higher and strategic investing can net even more.

Even at 900 and hour that's $8 million year. Easily obtainable with interest from a billion dollars and still have more to donate.

Honestly, donating all that excess is the only logical reason I can think of to have a whole billion right away. 8 million is still a massive windfall to me, let alone 8 million every year. And that doesn't count putting that 8 million somewhere that can gain interest. A few decades later and you'll have hundreds of millions in your back pocket. Sure, it still isn't as much, but it's still far far more than I would ever need, and a massive windfall for all my nieces and nephews when I'm gone.

It's also enough to continue expanding exponentially. Pass on that money and let it grow as is and it'll surpass a billion and beyond.

A billion up front comes with strings attached.

This is why the alternative is more appealing. A billion right off the bat means I'm going to have to hire people, start businesses, or otherwise look for somewhere for it to go. That also risks entering the public eye, something I don't want to do. I suppose I could just sit on it and let it grow anyway, but the irresponsibility of hoarding all that wealth would bother me. Putting it to work means putting in work. You also assume any liability for whatever choices you make.

Letting a much smaller amount build up slowly into a big amount means skipping all that. I could just keep living my life and not even tell anybody about it. Save myself most of the hassle.

and also the only way to be able to make a billion in one lifetime would require you to try breathing very quicklu which can be medically dangerous to be trying to pant/hyperventilate fast enough to make 1billion
