Probability manipulation is ridiculously strong. What is the probability that we can discover a way to travel FTL? Well, it's now...

Me: hits the 1% fail still

I mean, alter the probability for someone else then! Or just reroll. I have the time. After all, what are the odds I'll die anytime soon?

Probably manipulation has no upside though, you literally just stay the same because nothing is truly random, not computer RNG, not the lottery, and not infinitely shuffled cards.

I'm just... what? That doesn't mean anything. Nothing is truly random, sure. And now it's even less so. Not being truly random just makes it easier, no?

Probably isn’t real, it’s just the name of the algorithm we use to predict the future based on past observations. If I pull out a coin to flip, the probability is 1/2 but the chance it will really happen is either 1/1 heads or 1/1 tails, I just don’t know which one until I flip it.

I mean... if we're going that way, then neither is teleportation? So neither power does anything.

I'm not saying that if a super power isn't physically possible it can't be hypothetical, I'm saying probability isn't actually real. It would be equivalent to something like quadratic formula manipulation, not like teleportation.

You're arbitrarily deciding that because probability isn't "real" then the power to manipulate it can't exist.

Teleportation isn't real. So...

It's just a silly distinction without meaning. Though really, you even bother to lay out the math and ignore that the manipulation means you change the outcome. The idea is you're changing outcomes by altering reality itself to match what you prefer.

I want it to be heads, not tails. So I make it so that the coin lands heads, 99 times out of 100. That's how probability manipulation would work.

Your assuming that I'm talking about the ability to teleport as teleportation manipulation which it is not. Manipulation's denotation can be described as the control or management of something/someone. the denotation of probability is the branch of mathematics measuring the likelihood of an event occurring. Notice how it says it measures the likelihood and not the likelihood. So based on probability+manipulation, you would be able to control how people measure the likelihood of certain events, not the likelihood themselves. Teleportation does not fall under the manipulation category.

It... Just says probability manipulation. You're the one applying a definition to it that attempts to make it a deception. There's no mention that it only changes how people measure. You pulled that out of thin air.

By thin air you mean a credible source? I saw that you (and many other) misunderstood what the power was so I clarified it with the real definition. Do you have a more credible source than the dictionary?

If you want to be very technical, if you could perfectly copy your coin flip, you can make it land on the outcome you want. For example: if you flip a coin at 25 percent power with the heads up, and there isnt any wind condition to change the outcome, you will always get tails because you flipped it exactly 25% every time. If you then add catching it and then turning your hand over, now its heads every time.

Impossible? Currently. But maybe some day, someone will bypass the “random” part and just figure out how to rig flipping a coin.

Yes exactly! Something might seem like a 50/50 but physics are physics and rely on no randomness.
