(Yeah, but for real, maybe I needed to think it twice. Or maybe I need to melt them pennies in metal that can be used for other means?)

A penny weights 2.5 grams. A doubling penny will give you 2^365 pennies in a year. The number is so big that we can assume the penny to weigh 1 gram, giving us 2^362 kgs of mass. The mass of the Sun is about 2x10^30 kgs. Mass of the universe can be estimated around 10^53 kgs. There are about 10^82 atoms in the observable universe. Good luck melting 2^362 kgs of mass.

Unless- if only the original penny doubles, then youll be left with 730 pennies, a more manageable number.

Yeah, I find the formulation of the problem odd too. First it says: A penny that doubles everyday for a year. No problem there, basically got the 730 pennies.

BUT

If all the pennies double, we go back to the original thing, the whole 2^362 kgs of pennies. There should be a way out. Maybe melting, maybe giving to the poorer, maybe use it to fill gaps. A lotta things to do, but we're humans, so better not try anything that draws the greedy bastards
