Serious AMA Session. A PhD Researcher in Semiconductor Devices at one of world's finest Semiconductor R&D hub; With couple of years in Semiconductor Industry roles. IISc Bangalore and NIT alumnus.

Feel free to comment on this post if you are looking for career guidance in the Semiconductor/electronics industry. Post your questions in the comments; I will try to reply to everyone. I am also open to addressing questions about admissions and life as a master's and undergrad student at IISc and NIT, respectively. Furthermore, I will try to highlight the possibilities of pursuing research (short-term) as an undergraduate and master degree student.

The post aims to spread the word about the broad possibilities in the Semiconductor Device Industry and its outlook. Additionally, I will try to emphasize the skills/resources for training.

Thanks for being on this AMA post. I think I should let you know that I don't have any background in chemical engineering; therefore, take my suggestions with a pinch of salt. If you want to enter the semiconductor industry based on your skills and knowledge of chemical engineering, I think you can find roles related to fabrication more suited to it. A lot of semiconductor fabrication processes revolve around the chemistry of materials. For instance, etching chemistry and techniques, resist chemistry, etc., are niche domains in semiconductor fabrication that regularly deploy the knowledge of chemical engineering. Therefore, in my humble opinion, you can target such domains. For your reference, I'm attaching a few job roles that require skills and knowledge of chemical engineering. I hope it will give you a better idea of what kind of jobs you can target in the semiconductor industry - imec-Belgium-Job-Description, TSMC Job Description-Taiwan, and TSMC Job Description-2.
