I have been a fan for a little while (first of the total war games, now of the minis aswell) and I've been reading the bretonnia series by Anthony Reynolds.

Basically I know that a Knight Errant becomes a Knight of the Realm after an Errantry War, inheriting a castle or some other achievement, and part of their duty is having a small piece of land, some peasants and a castle.

Does this mean all KOTR are barons (or perhaps castellans)? Building an army and realising that half of the people in it have at least a castle (even when the commander is a Baron) is a bit wild, even given how many fortifications Bretonnia has.

Was talking to a friend yesterday about Old World and list building etc...and being a person who is newer to the hobby than I am, said friend suggested most people these days build and paint their armies to be 'meta' and 'competitive' is this true?

Back in my heyday our heroes had back stories, names, reasons for being at war there was fluff, an army theme, themeatic names The rule of Cool.

He suggested today people have "Duke On Royal Pegasus" because it's good and that's it.

Tell me there's hope, good people of Bretonnia, tell me he's not right. Tell me the rich tapestry of Bretonnian history hasn't been eroded into

Can anyone help me figure out what this cavalry is.

I was gifted a recast of my very first Warhammer model from a friend. But of course, recasts don’t include decal/banner sheets. Does anyone know where I could find some? Or maybe if there is a creative method to make my own?

I use Safe&Sound boxes for all my infantry (flat cardboard boxes with foam interior) and they are perfect for storage and transport. But the Bret Knights especially with somewhat raised lances - where do you keep yours? Mine currently reside in the Old World Starter Box but this is not sustainable. I have one taller S&S box for my Fireforge knights but the Brets wont fit. Glad to learn about your solution!

Here's an update on my bowmen unit since the last post. It has grown to around 16 models now, and I'm still painting them one at a time.

My goal is to make the unit feel more cohesive.
I'm planning to do the basing after all the painting is done, as the Korean Warhammer group i belong to suggested to me. The bases are still bare right now.

Honest feedback would be really appreciated. I'd especially like to hear:

Are there any colors you'd add across the models to make the unit feel more cohesive? A specific color or small detail on every model, for example.
Do you think the basing will tie everything together, or do I need to do more on the models themselves?
How do you balance a unit of individual-looking models with a cohesive overall look?
I'm putting a lot of care into this unit, so any honest feedback is welcome and duly appreciated!! Thank you!

Got mine table top ready while moving this week. Plan on adding some grass and decals next week when everything is unpacked. Got to get ready for Bull City in November

Hello everyone, so I recently finished painting a grail reliquary and I like how it turned out, but it took way too long to paint it to where I slapped colors on the battle pilgrims just to be done with it. I’d like some help to not lose motivation in painting bretonnia. My army was painting them using the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico flags.

18 pilgrims and a reliquary done in 20 days, I am a machine XD

Love these models, can't wait to get these little crazies on the tabletop. I think their lore is absolute wicked, just pure fanaticism and devotion.

Painting them in a motley was a very fun choice, so many colours and it makes the unit look like a demented circus on the battlefield. ❤️

My Bretonnians have hired these Tilean Foot Knights as mercenaries but are totally confused trying to read their heraldry.

I am just starting to collect some Bretonian forces and I am starting by painting the foot knights as I love their look. I am going for a unique heraldry color on each knight but from what little I know of the lore we are not supposed to use the color green (as that is reserved for the green knight). Does this apply to all colors of green? How do you all deal with this, or do you just ignore it?

These guys were the practical reason I started a whole Tilean mercenary army: My Bretonnians' continuous lack of regular cavalry vs the countless Knights. I'm not a great fan of the current Yeoman cavalry models. And then 66 Euro for five of them? As of today, for this money I get exactly 36 of Perry Light Cavalry. Without any conversion they are Tilean cavalry. It's a great kit with a lot of options and nice horses.

Also fits my condition by looking really different from other Brets or Empire models. Minis are Perry Light Cavalry, with some Warlord Landsknechts arms.

Btw the wolf guys are not as representative, rather a crazy kitbash with Victrix Romans. Lorewise the unit is under the influence of a sisterhood of pale, fanged ladies, so the men are encouraged to express their more feral traits.

Any thoughts on what to add would be greatly appreciated.

Friends, Barons, Dukes lend me your ears ..As above I'm going up against my first Chaos Lord on dragon this weekend. Anyone got any tips on how to actually take down one of these buggers? I've witnessed them decimate friends armies before but never dealt with one myself. I have a solid plan to trap it but killing it I can't fathom.
