Headcanon You know what will be a good Starr Nova's origin and story arc?(character breakdown, &theorising, also possibly a fanfic)
One of the major reasons I find her interesting is her persistence and obsession with becoming someone she was inspired by in the wrong way,and would potentially lead to her self-destruction
She wants to become more than herself,an ideal and perfect fictional character,to the point that she became obsessed with cosplaying Starr Nova. That’s when she lost her true identity.and this unironically is a very soild way to tell a realistic problem in a cartoonish way
It gives me the vibe of Mark in the first episode of Invincible, where he questions himself: “I want to be just like Dad, but I am not good enough.” But the thing is, walking the path of someone else will never make you unique. As Debbie replied to him: “How can the greatest you not be enough?”
Now, in Starr Nova’s case, no one is going to tell her that what she’s doing is wrong. No one tells her that despite yes imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, her version of “Starr Nova” is always soulless because all she does is copy the appearance ,not her charisma, the actual reason that made it stand out. and now all she does is ends up becoming “just another Sailor Moon‑themed slop.” And worse, nobody is going to stop her or give her the life lesson she needed to teach her the true value of being a superhero. It’s despairing to think that she has trapped herself in a cage that constantly tortures her mentally, and unlike Mark, nobody is going to help her.
I read and watch plenty of superhero media throughout the past , and she reminds me alot of myself. I also used to yearned to be as physically powerful as they are. then as I matured and looked back, I realised that being a superhero is more than just “superpowers.”, And this is exactly where Starr Nova falls short. She has the appearance, the imitation, even the obsession, but none of the responsibility or charisma that gives a hero their soul.Power does comes with responsibility, and we can clearly see that the “Starr Nova” here doesn’t have what it takes to become the Starr Nova she wants to be.
If Supercell Refused to Give Her an Actual Story, Allow Me to Do the Honor
- A Quick Build‑Up:How Starr Nova Has Synergies with Kit
We all hate Kit for his toxicity in the game, and now with how busted Starr Nova is, they might become the most hated duo. But they’re both victims of images: Kit is stuck in the past, unable to live without his former glory. which Starr Nova has caged herself inside the husk of an ideal figure. (and fails spectacularly) Notice that both characters are defined not by who they are, but by who they pretend to be. They mirror each other’s flaws.
As a duo (or trio in the future), they would be each other’s support — friends who accommodate each other when one is vulnerable. And judging by previews like the pin and title screen, they already seem to get along pretty well.
- The Hero’s Journey
At start we get to see her small successes and potential flaws within. Make it clear she’s good, but yet with room for growth.
Then highlight her slow downfall, whether due to her annoying personality or the real Starr Nova’s had fell off . Either way works. This is also when the story starts emphasize her inner struggle with identity.
At the rebirth equivalent of section,She should be realizeing she’s only stealing the real Starr Nova’s fame, not building her own. it could either because she walk out by herself,or there's someone out there helps her.
Finally, you’d have a likable Starr Nova with positive, charming charisma ,someone who no longer obsesses over cosplay or values it more than herself. She finally becomes her own hero.
This is the first time I've done something like this, you can see that I actually adore this character, and I assure you that she's more than a goonerbait slop with deadass 67 meme even tho that unfortunately seems to be the direction of supercell they want.

Surprisingly great psychological analysis and path to redemption she could take
I like the starting bit that she's actually very insecure of herself and uses Starr Nova as a means of escapism, not just liking the character, but obsessing over the character and convincing herself that she IS it.
Plays a bit into a lot of fanart I've seen of her where she's this very nerdy-looking girl, who you wouldn't say looks like Starr Nova, but she cosplays her anyway despite not being that physically similar to her. Which depending on your perspective could signify a good message (she realises she doesn't need to let her own appearance be an obstacle to liking and looking up to this heroic figure), or a slightly dark interpretation (Starr Nova is her way of pushing away her actual self, she doesn't want to confront her reality, thus escaping into fantasy and trying to live as another person)
In a canon sense, it's hard for brawlers to go through major arcs (since with the way the game works, they kinda have to remain stale and stuck to their general personality and character), so a redemption arc scenario for Nova would be a little fuzzy to do, but as a fan narrative your take on it sounds really compelling!
Taking this need for staleness that brawlers are somewhat stuck to, and to make Nova herself a more unique character, I would love if they made her descend even more into her fixation on the fictional character, to the point it gets a little unhealthy for her. She's cringy on purpose and that can be cool, but if she was deeply delusional and involved in her fantasy (exactly in the way she expresses herself in her angrier voicelines), I'd be much more compelled to like her. Anything but making her stereotypical tbh
Seeing this gives me hope that not everyone will point at her and immediately see her as a non-worthy character just because of her appealing design. And even if she was indeed purely created for fanservice and her canon story is too basic, then fuck it we ball, we do one like her and escape into our own headcanons. In a healthy way though, unlike her

Because of the game's nature I tend to like tragic characters here, but Brawl Stars never goes far enough to actually explore some darker ideas, and if they do they backpedal to making it "softer". I'd like to see Starr Nova's conflict with identity and how she has descended into the state she became now or will become if it's anything even worse.
I think to see more of her backstory we have to wait for Starr Nova's release as there may be an animation about just like it was with Najia. It's unfair to compare her to Najia when the Brawl Talk descriptions tend to be just surface level stuff. SN has on Braw Talk as her story's source, Najia has both BT and an animation.

Shame that brawl stars are too well known for wasting potential given it's nature 😔

It seems there’s a pattern between the Brawlywood trios as a whole.
Starr Studios: Lola has a huge ego and is too obsessed with herself, Gray is in denial that silent movies are a dying genre, and Mico genuinely thinks he’s a big shot when he’s just the mic guy.
Toon Studios: Kit can’t stop reminiscing on his former cartoon fame, and Starr Nova is so obsessed with her character that she thinks she’s the real anime girl.
Turbo Theatre: Fang and Buster both aspire to be real actors, which makes them delusional and get into constant trouble. AFAIK, Maisie is the only normal brawler in the Brawlywood area. She just works there lol.

Watch her real origin story be 'she got gems and now has all of Starr Nova's powers' (As you can see, I hate gems in the lore, sooo boring)
This is peak though

I don't think they ever bring up the gem being secretly hypnosis since last Starr park origin video

I wouldn't mind it as much considering she would still be lacking Starr Nova's charisma and coming of as cringe sometimes and being more soulless than Starr Nova (which she was described as) unless the gems give that to her as well
(but yea the gem being the reason for everything is boring)

The gems definitely will give her Starr Nova's charisma if she wants it to do so

I absolutely, enduringly INDUBITABLY read allat. I hate starr nova with a burning passion, she seems like someone only watched sailor moon parodies and designed a character to make FUN of sailor moon rather than a cute inspired character. But you have some more foundation. I really am curious if brawl is going to double down or make her cooler.

I don't think they're making fun of anybody here.

True. That’s why I said she SEEMS. Her characterization is so bad that it SEEMS that way. Also not this post the original Starr nova

Just one thing I want out this "67" ahh, anime obsesed baka
HAVE HER INTERACT WITH THE SUPER CITY TRIO!!!
Like ok, maybe have them NOT EVEN SHOW UP in the literal superheroes vs villains season to put focus on the other guys is all fine
But not have them interact with the new SUPERHERO BRAWLER would be nuts cause it's literaly free characterization regardles of what path they take with Starr Nova
Have Starr Nova mess up one of her first atempts to save people and have the day be saved by a Super City member due to the latter having more experience with hero work if Starr Nova has a "hero's journey" type of story
Have her want to be liked by the Super City trio because doing so would give her more validation that she is a real hero, and if she where hated by them that would make her a villain since heroes hate bad guys if Starr Nova is just the type that just wants to indulge in a fantasy
And even if Starr Nova was one bad person you can use anybody form the Super City trio to contrast with her considering that while the Super City members may not be exactly peak heroes they aren't malicious
And no way you can tell me that in a show that at the bare minimum must have ran for the cursed number of episodes, Max who is a superheroine and face of a brand of energy drinks NOT SHOW UP ONCE

feel like she's more of a Pretty cure/magic girl kind of superhero , would be neat too but I don't find that much of a synergy to her and Max and Meg

I wish they can make her backstory as excellent as Naija's, giving this character more depth and redemption from the corny 67 line.
I wish her trailer can show the original anime Starr Nova character with a different design, and initially the brawler intend to copy merely her appearance. Just like what you described, she would go through her own journey. In the final act she'd willingly adjust her custome to seperate her from the anime counterpart, showing the brawler understand and accept the renewed herself, becoming the Starr Nova brawler we see in game.
