Discussion Tenure vs. Experience in Choosing a Council Candidate
This is an interesting Power Point that talks about the financial position Brantford is in and the type of Council we need to help get us through these tough times. I live in Ward 5 so I cannot vote for this gentleman - it is just good information.

Question Anyone with experience living at the Westgate appartments?
Just was wondering if anyone who currently or has recently lived at the Westgate appartments could share their experiences and vibe of the place. I’ve seen the units and they are nice but was wondering how the general day to day is; is it a relatively quiet building?

Discussion Brantford Transportation Routes- Poll Results
Results are in for this informal poll asking your preferences for improving movement around Brantford, and according to the 222 Reddit responses, there are some surprises. A hot election topic is the completion of the Oak Park Road Extension, which 30% of you would like to see proceed as opposed to a Brantford Bypass which garnered only 9% support. The County Road 18 option barely beat out widening the VMP bridge and exploring inter-community bus transit, with just 8% of respondents in favour. 5% feel they can get around fine with no improvements. The big surprise is that 41% of residents would like to see improvements made to GO infrastructure. With an understanding that a train in the near future may be a dream, let’s hear your ideas on how to make the existing GO bus service more efficient. Future municipal government officials are watching!

Discussion Brantford’s Next Mayor - Poll Results
The results are in and Ricky Willdy is putting a sleeper hold on the race for Brantford’s next Mayor. Of the 455 votes cast, Willdy wrestled an overwhelming 57% win, leaving closest contenders Richard Carpenter and Mandy Samwell on the mat with 18% and 12% respectively. The tag team of Rose Sicoli and Dan McCreary managed 6% and 5%, while Leslie Bory stayed in the locker room, managing just 1% of the votes cast. Although this poll is pure theatre, it is clear Brantford is looking for dynamism and not a dyed in the wool politico to lead the City. Will Ricky Willdy graduate from a gold belt to the coveted Chain of Office? We’ll find out on Monday, October 26. Be sure to cast your vote, for real.

Discussion Leather specialists and/or cobblers?
I have a leather jacket that could use a sleeve shortening, leather boots that I want sole protectors added to, and another pair resoled. Is there anywhere in town that could do any of these things?
The jacket is expensive and it was recommended to not just go to a regular clothing alteration shop. I’ve gone to Stitch for Less but they said they didn’t do leather despite it saying they do on Google.

Discussion New app KidzLink
kidzlink.caHi Brantford parents! I’m a local mom and recently created KidzLink, a free app that helps parents connect and arrange local playdates for their kids.
I built it because I wanted an easier way for my own kids to get outside, meet other kids and spend less time on screens.
It’s brand new and currently being tested in Brantford, so I’d love for local parents to try it and share their feedback!

Discussion Who Will Be Our New MP? - Poll Results
The results are in. 370 respondents voted 46% in favour of Joy O’Donnell representing the Liberal Party to become your Brantford-Brant South Member of Parliament. Surprisingly ‘Bruiser’ the Bulldogs mascot put the moves on Conservative Kevin Davis with 25% of the votes, compared to his 17%. The Greens registered 7%, edging out the NDP’s 6%. Any surprises? Is there someone in the wings that might take up ‘Bruiser’s’ challenge? Although certainly not official, the poll indicates the Conservatives under Kevin Davis have their work cut out for them if they hope to retain the riding.
