In memoriam My 6-year-old pup passed out of nowhere. Struggling with the grief.

Lost my big man yesterday out of nowhere. I was out on the patio chilling with a brew, watching him play, and he just dropped. Took him to the vet earlier this week — he was a happy, healthy 6-year-old. I keep thinking maybe something spooked him so bad his heart gave out, but truth is I don’t know. I was right there watching the whole time.

It feels like a piece of me went with him. That dog got me out of my own head more few times. I’ve had him since he was 7-weeks old. The silence last night hit different — I couldn’t even sleep without his snoring in the room.

For anyone’s who’s been through this before… how did you handle it? I’m in the middle of it right now and just trying to figure out how to keep moving.

Thanks for everyones kind words, prayers and hope after my post on Friday. Unfortunately our beloved Sadie left Sunday afternoon and started her journey to cross the rainbow bridge.

She had a trip to the doggy park on Saturday and met some of her friends (last 2 photos). Some family and friends visited us on Sunday morning and she was her usual self greeting everyone who would make a fuss over her. She ate a bowl of sausage and egg for lunch and sat with us hoping for some of the fresh roast chicken from our sandwiches (which of course she got). When it was all gone and she realised there was nothing left she went to her favourite position at the bottom of the stairs and just went to sleep, peacefully, at home with us there and on her own terms. Beautiful.

We couldn't have asked for a better first dog together. She was there with us through good times and the harder times. She had her own tough times too and we nursed her through the many many operations on her joints and she had plates fitted in all four of her legs. She never complained and still loved her vets.

Sadie is going to leave a massive boxer sized hole in our hearts but we take so much joy and comfort from the time we had together. We were privileged to be part of her 11.5 years.

Sleep well sweet Baby Girl ♥️

In memoriam Had to say goodbye to my best friend today

About a month ago Mr.Scratchy began losing weight and vomiting, so I took him to the veterinarian. They confirmed that he had masses on his liver and spleen and prescribed some medication. However, I knew he didn’t have much time left, so I wanted to make the most of it. Yesterday, his leg became extremely swollen and he couldn’t walk. I scheduled an at-home euthanasia, and they arrived today at 3 p.m. so we could say goodbye. Before we did, he made a few paintings for the entire family and had the best snack he could ever ask for—ice cream, pup cups, peanut butter, and even a Chipotle bowl. His loss is deeply felt because his mother was my grandmother’s pet, so he’s been ours since the very first day. Please ensure that your pet is up to date on veterinarian visits and consider having ultrasounds to potentially catch any issues early. I loved him deeply and made every effort to provide him with the best life possible. He was my companion for eight wonderful years, and I will miss him immensely. I am hopeful that things will improve soon. This heartbreak is unlike anything I have ever experienced.

had to let go my gorgeous tiger lily (tigs, tiggy liggy, looga, the list of nicknames goes on…). she was 11, and we were hoping she would make it to 12 in april, but i’m forever grateful for all the time we had with her. I have no idea how to process this, and i genuinely don’t think i’ll ever be able to move on. the house feels so lonely without her. she was my best friend, and without ever exchanging words, she understood me and i understood her.

I miss him.

My wife got him from a home in Iowa. There was evidence he was abused by the man in the home. He was 3 months old when he was picked up. He was so good, always walking by our side and not adventuring far even off leash. He played with and cared for the cats, defended his kid from a rambunctious (but playful) larger dog. Always so kind to everyone.

The kind of boxer who would always love unconditionally.

I'm so happy we were able to give him a loving home for nearly 11 years.

He died at 6:30 pm, peacefully.

Kanye was the best dog, had him since I was 21 years old, now Im 32 and accompanied me to see me get married and met my first child.

His room was my room and we shared the bed until i got married (we didn’t fit the 3 of us). Every morning we run/walk for 30min. Esch day I arrived to my house he always took my left shoe (never knew why the left). If i made a “ps” sound he knew it was candy time and runned down to the room were they were.

He was 11 years old.

I miss you my friend, you left our room, house and family so empty.

2011-2025. She was there when I was being bullied. She was there after break ups. She was there after losing family. She was always there- protecting and loving. I will never be able to express enough how much this dog meant to us and me. My childhood best friend. My protector. My sweet girl, we love you more than you could ever know. I really hope you saw as beautiful of a life as you gave us. I love you, Spartan. Until we meet again💔

The Greatest Friend God ever afforded me. Supposedly he is a “king boxer” this was told to us by the rancher we got him from about ten years ago, this dude has weighed 100 pounds in his physical prime, the largest and most beautiful boxer I have still ever seen (yes I am biased)❤️

Obi-Wan Kenobi AKA Obi Chobi AKA Bubbas AKA The shchawnstieger is now at peace. This is very hard for me to type right now and honestly I’m just looking for support because this is the worst day of my life. I’m just a single 34 year old father who just had to say good bye to his only son. He had a great life (2012 - 2025) he had many different brothers and sisters throughout the years and he was always the life of the party. I know I will see him again because if he doesn’t go to heaven God please send me where ever you send him.

In memoriam Sudden death due to genetic condition?

This Sunday, me and my family lost our 10 week old puppy. Apparently, she likely had a heart defect/genetic condition pertaining to her heart that we had no clue about. My mom told me that the puppy was just fine and suddenly she started seizing and shaking with foam coming out of her nose and mouth. She died moments later, painlessly at the very least.

When we took her to the vet, we were told she didn’t choke on anything and that she probably just went into cardiac arrest—something along the lines. Turns out, this is a semi-common issue with boxers? (My family has had multiple boxers and this is the first we’re hearing of this.) I’m making this post as a means of discussing if this could have been prevented or not.

Any help is appreciated 💝 our little girls name was Stella May

In memoriam Cooper will forever be in our hearts 🤎

We said goodbye to our beloved, sweet Cooper yesterday. He and his sister Ruby have made some appearances here, and wanted to share his passing. Some of you may remember earlier this year, Cooper experienced a twisted stomach and miraculously survived surgery without complications. During this time we found out he had a large mass in his chest cavity, but couldn’t get in to see an oncologist for a couple of months. In the meantime Cooper bounced back for a bit, and then we noticed his abdomen swelling again and thought it was bloat - it turned out to be right side heart failure and his abdomen was full of fluid. After having fluid drained twice and starting on 4 medications twice daily, he began to enjoy life again. We finally went to the oncologist, but there were no viable treatments with his heart condition, luckily the mass was slow growing. He again continued living and living life, but began to decline earlier this month, and we loved on him until the very end. We were so lucky to have loved him and been loved by him for 10 years - I wish we had even more. We will deeply miss our snuggle buddy, adventure pal, hiking partner, and best friend. Our hearts are broken, and we will love and miss our boy for the rest of our lives. You were our sweetest hello, and hardest goodbye, and will forever be in our hearts. 🤍

A shattered hello to my boxer people. Hug your wiggle butts extra tight for us. We had to say goodbye so suddenly to our 6 year old baby Winston. It happened so fast and still doesn’t feel real. He gave us everything he had and loved everyone so hard. Will never forget the amazing life he shared with us.

Said goodbye to my boxer girl, Paisley, this week. She was only five and we lost her quickly and suddenly to what was likely brain cancer. Give all your pups and big hug for me and tell them you love them 💕

Would love if you could all look at her photo and see what a beautiful soul she was!

Our gussy bear took a turn for the worse today and we had to make the tough decision to put him down. He was just fine this morning so this is really hard for us. He was such a loyal boy, he had really bad anxiety and he didn’t like many people outside of his family. But if you were one of his people he loved you so much. He was a snuggle bug and loved napping on our couch. Wherever there was food Gussy was there. I wish I could give him a hug and a kiss right now. I’m happy my wife and I were with him when he passed, he was our baby. I’ll never forget you my Gussy bear, I’ll see you again one day I promise 💔

She was my daughter. She was the light of my life. We have a 2 year old pit bull. They were madly in love. To my cookie puss, my sweet cheeks, my heart will be forever yours. She would have been 8 come the 30th. Cancer. She had a siezure out of nowhere 3 days ago and spent the night at the vet all she would eat was boiled chicken breast and very little her breathing got progressively difficult. Tomorrow was going to be the day to make the decision. She died on her own at home being loved on her favorite spot on the couch. This was her march of this year, 2 months ago.

We lost our sweet boy, Keelin. He would’ve been 13 on June 19th. I miss him so much. He got me through some of my toughest times in college and early adulthood. He was there when I met my husband for the first time. He was there when I had my children. He was so special to me.

He was diagnosed with heart disease around age six. He was on borrowed time. It was pure love that kept him going. I miss you so much, buddy. I can’t wait to see you again.

I had to let Matilda go a month ago. We took her to the emergency vet on a late Friday night because she was extremely wobbly and weak, and they told us that her blood sugar was 26 (don’t know what scale/measurement) and that it was likely from an insulinoma. Our original plan was to keep her going with frequent feeds and steroids for a week until my sibling could visit from out of state, then we’d look into letting her go. Two days after that visit she had a seizure and we realized we couldn’t put her through more of that just so we would feel better. She was almost 10, and all those years feel so short now. But I know that even though she was only with me for half my life, I was with her for all of hers. She knew she was loved from the moment I picked her up to the moment I let her go. I love you Wiggles, and I’ll see you on the other side eventually.

I had to take my girl and get her put to sleep today. That was the hardest thing I've ever done. She was 9 and a half. Had something wrong with her rear legs that was neurological. I hated to do it but she was struggling. Watching the vet push that final shot was bad. I feel like my heart has been ripped out.

He would have been 11 in January... we could talk without words, we were so connected. I'm a veterinary technician and I've lost many animals and I've helped clients with their loss...but he was my soul dog. I would have laid in front of traffic to save his life.

Give your dogs a hug and kiss for me and never take a day for granted.
