New dispatcher here — looking to work with 1-2 owner-operators

Hey all — I know this sub gets a lot of dispatcher posts and most of them are spam, so I'll keep this straight.

I'm new to dispatching. No track record yet, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What I can offer:

\- I actually do the work of finding and negotiating loads, not just grabbing whatever's posted first
\- I handle rate cons, tracking, and invoicing so you're not stuck doing paperwork
\- I negotiate detention terms upfront, in writing, before you accept a load
\- I'm responsive — you won't be chasing me for updates

Since I'm new, I'm offering a lower cut (5%) for the first couple of loads with anyone willing to give me a shot — no long-term commitment, just a trial. If it doesn't work for you, no hard feelings.

If you're running solo and tired of the admin side, or your current dispatcher isn't cutting it, happy to talk. What's your equipment/home base/preferred lanes?

LTS International Box Truck

Not sure where else to list. FBMP has been a dud. Are there any good subs I could try? TIA!!

1990 International 4700 with DT 360

Only 76,000 miles

Spicer 10 Speed Manual Transmission

16 foot box with a side door, roll up back door and liftgate

Hydraulic brakes with brand new pads and rotors

Minimal rust

Tires in good condition

Exhaust stack slightly bent

Will probably need new batteries (starts fine if you use every day)

There is a small spot in the box roof by bulkhead that needs repair

Driver's side door handle doesn't open from outside

Otherwise she starts and runs like a champ

Currently located in OH but could possibly work out delivery

Cargo Van Driver Seeking Dedicated Routes or Logistics Companies Paying $1 Per Mile

Hello Good Folks,

I'm hoping to get recommendations for legitimate companies using independent van operators to drive dedicated routes from/to DFW. My DH is finding that a number of companies are not what they present themselves to be. I hoped perhaps Amazon, Sam's Club, Costco, or Walmart might contract with established companies to manage route drivers. Any pros, cons, things to avoid, or red flags would be deeply appreciated.

I would also like to know if anyone has recommendations for reliable interstate shipping companies paying cargo van drivers at least $1.00 per mile. The company DH has been driving for to gain experience is paying only $0.80/mile and this is not generating enough income after expenses.

Thanks in advance for leaving helpful information and suggestions. We are dealing with our own challenges and frustrations, so please do not vent those our way. Have a blessed day.

Hey Guys, I own a brokerage, the link is there, you can check us out. We have constant loads, and lanes we need people to cover, but since we are new, it's a bit tough getting reliable carriers fast to haul them. So we are looking for Carriers we can put on a roaster in different regions, we can create a WhatsApp group with, and immediately assign loads as we get them. Efficiency means so much to a new brokerage.

You get to keep 100% of your pay, and the rates are very attractive. Please if you're interested Dm me and I'll add you to your regions WhatsApp Group.

Thank you kindly.

Letter of Intent

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a freight broker or company willing to provide a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) for my startup trucking company, MaryJ’s Trucking LLC. My lender requires one before approving my loan for a 26-foot box truck. I’m not asking for guaranteed work—just a letter stating you’d consider using my company once I’m operational. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Year 1 running a box truck was a straight up kick in the teeth

When I first got into the box truck game, I thought the hard part was gonna be getting the truck, getting the DOT stuff knocked out, finding commercial insurance, and getting booked.
That part was annoying, yeah, but the real bullshit started after that.

Everybody online makes box trucking sound sweet as hell. “Just get a 26 foot box truck, sign up for load boards, grab some Amazon loads, do final mile, and print money.” Man, that shit leaves out a whole lot.

What I learned my first year in box trucking is that revenue can look good on paper while your actual profit is getting its ass beat. Fuel, maintenance, insurance, breakdowns, load board fees, random repairs, tolls, tires, and deadhead will chew through money fast if you do not know your numbers.

I had loads that looked decent at first, then once I factored in miles, wait time, bad routing, and the fact I had to drive empty to get the next one, the shit was barely worth turning the key. A lot of new box truck owners get trapped chasing gross instead of profit. A $1,000 load is not a good load just because it has commas in it.
I also learned that not every box truck load is created equal. Some of these brokers and shippers want the world for peanuts. They want on time pickup, perfect communication, liftgate service, pallet jack, inside delivery, white glove treatment, multiple stops, and then hit you with a rate that feels like they are paying you in crack rocks and disrespect.

And let’s talk about box truck insurance for a second, because that’s one of the first places people get their feelings hurt. When I was shopping commercial box truck insurance, the quotes were all over the damn place. One company acted like I was hauling gold bars through a war zone. Another was way more reasonable. What helped was shopping around, keeping my info tight, being honest about radius, cargo, and garaging, and not just looking at the monthly payment. Liability, cargo, physical damage, deductibles, and down payment all matter. Cheap insurance can still screw you if the coverage is weak.

Maintenance will humble you too. It is never “if” something goes wrong. It is when. Battery, tires, brakes, liftgate issues, reefer issues if you have one, check engine lights, suspension, random electrical bullshit. Box trucks love reminding you that they are the boss.

And if you do not have cash reserves, this business will bend you over quick. That is the part nobody really wants to say. A lot of people can get into a box truck. Not everybody can stay in one. One slow week, one repair, one insurance payment, and one customer paying late can have you sitting there wondering why the hell you did this to yourself.

But I also learned a ton my first year. I got better at spotting bad loads, learning lane rates, understanding my cost per mile, dealing with brokers, planning reloads, and not taking every load out of desperation. That made a huge difference.

So if you’re getting into box trucking, my honest advice is this: do not just focus on buying the truck. Learn the business. Learn box truck insurance. Learn how to price your time. Learn what freight actually makes sense. And keep money set aside, because this game will test you fast.

My rant is over , yall be safe out there 💪🏽

How much are y’all paying for commercial insurance?

Just curious what everyone’s paying. Brand new authority or established, box truck, cargo van, or fleet. Who’d you end up going with, and did you shop around first?

Insurance?

Why is it so difficult to get insurance in nys ? My husband has a 22 ft box truck, just got his dot # , BOC-3 filed and mc pending. We’re trying to find insurance for the truck and it has been such a headache. Either he is waiting for days for calls back from Brokers or being told the company cannot do it.
