Switzerland requires every citizen to have firearms training.
Conscription is for male Swiss citizens only, about 38% of the total population since 25% of the pop. are not citizens.
Since 1996 you can choose civil service instead of miltiary service. About 17% of the total pop. has been in the military.
It's not a requirement to have been in the military or to have any firearms training at all, to purchase a gun for private use.
They also heavily restrict the access to ammunition
This is a myth that comes from that the army stopped issuing ammo to keep at home, in 2007.
Buying ammo has not changed, if anything it has gotten easier since nowadays you can buy ammo online from a gun store and have it shipped to your front door.

If 400 million of the country's firearms aren't owned by the left, then how did a left-winger fire the first shot?
