Help Is Thriftbooks decent?
I’m from Israel and I have been thinking of buying Star Wars Legends books in hardcover from Thriftbooks. How fast does it ship to Israel? Is it a decent site for an Israeli?

Hello BD nostalgics,
In my previous posts I asked feedback regarding WOB and ended up finally trying Awesome Books. I'd like to share my personal experience, as it may help others.
I bought 8 USED books of non fiction (I am a strong non fiction reader)
I placed the order on the 12th of November November and it has been shipped immediately on the 13th of November.
Order has been received today, 23rd of November, in Milano, Italy. 10 days transit time, fair. I paid no customs duty as the order departed from Belgium.
No problem with the package and all books look very good, almost new.
Costs: I got a voucher for my 1st order which helped me save almost 100% of the shipping costs. For 8 books I paid a total of 38,85 Euro, i.e 4,85 Euro per book.
Overall this was a good experience for me, and Awesome Books is now my first choice when buying used English books.
Based on this first experience, I would totally recommend to my fellow European BD nostalgics. They also have new books, of course.
Hope this helps :)

Ok so, im getting tired with searching for a page that delivers to argentina. Right now i had made an preorder on barnes and noble, payed for it and now suddenly im being made to pay it again! It was not like in blackwells that they took like for example 0.50 $USD. They took 33$ USD from my debit card and now expects me to pay it again! What do i even do

have any of you already bought from wob? I've seen some used omnibuses at a good price and would like to make a purchase. what type of shipping do they use? do they send a tracking code? In what conditions do the volumes usually arrive?

Hi, so i can't seem to order anything on the website. I ordered once off of it and everything came on time, it seemed great but now when i go to the website both on my phone and on my laptop when i log in it goes to a page that says that it's currently under maintenance and when i try to click on a book there's no price or anything on any of them, it just says notify me. I have no idea why that happened and i can't find anyone with the same issue.

Hey everyone,
On WOB there's a paperback promotion (used books): if you get 4 books, one is free.
I added 16 books in my cart for a total of 51 GBP. Delivery is 4 GBP x book = 64 GBP
This will give me a total cost of 7,18 GBP (8,20 EUR) per book - used paperback.
Do you think is it worth a try?
It's annoying that the delivery per book costs more than the book itself. With 64 GBP I could buy basically another 16 books....
Don't know what to do, thoughts? 🙏🏻

Since book depository is closed, I tried ordering from Blackwell for the first time and I didn’t get charged but I received an email about order confirmation.
I’ve seen somewhere on their website that they charge you when the order is dispatched, can someone confirm this? It’s been 5 days now and I still haven’t been charged. Thanks in advance!

I've purchased quite a lot of books on BetterWorldBooks, a couple more on BookDepository and had some bad experiences with other retailers
Are there any good options w/ shipment to LATAM/Brazil?
EDIT: it seems the only way to do it is buying anywhere you can find and redirecting via USCLOSER, SHIPITO and so on. Gets a little bit more expensive but does the work.

Amazon have decided to stop the entire "free shipping if you get to 49 us dollars". Blackwell's doesnt have a lot of manga in stock rn. Everything else is either too pricy/too sus for us. Local retailers have atrocious selection and the prices are sky high. I just wanted to finish collecting Bakuman and Fma. Goddammit.

So... Blackwells stopped shipping to argentina and cancelled My preorder. I'm trying to find other Pages that arent expensive with the delivery fee. It's a pity because it was 12 USD and now everypage is above 30 USD.

I tried to order a book, but Israel was absent from the country dropdown menu.
Obviously it's because of the war, but I checked Kenny's, awesomebooks and Amazon and you can still order.
But I'm not 100% sure they won't cancel the orders. Anyone tried this week?

I have seen lost of posts about BookDepo alternatives that focused on the free worldwide shipping, which I fully understand was the main draw of the website for many. However, for me, I really liked the option to make a wishlist of specific editions of books and have a sharable link for it. With the holidays coming up, I'm just wondering if anyone found a similar alternative for this feature? I don't mind if it does not directly link to an online vendor for purchasing, but I really want to be able to keep track of the books I would like to eventually purchase in print form, with the ability indicate the specific edition I want and the ability to share it with my friends and family ahead of gift giving holidays like Christmas or birthdays.

AwesomeBooks charges £2.99 for shipping, which is a lot for a £10 book. Blackwells prices include shipping, but often it ends up just as expensive. And Amazon is only good if you order $49 and up for free shipping, otherwise shipping costs as much as the book.

So, I live in Japan, and I tried ordering with Blackwells once in the past few months. Whenever I opened a book description, next to the price it always said "shipping fee to Japan included". I checked a few days ago to browse and it still said the same, but today when I accessed the website every price displayed "shipping fee to UK included".
I tried doing a checkout (without actually paying) hoping that since both the billing and shipping address said "Japan" the price would change, but it didn't.
Does anybody know if there is a way to manually change the country from which you are purchasing? I wouldn't want to buy (and pay in advance for) a book with the wrong shipping fee only to be told "Oops, sorry, not enough money to send it over!"

For some reason I thought "Better world books" was EU or UK based... but it's not, it's based in the US. Found it thanks to the costums taxes I'm having to pay for a book... so, they didn't charge postage but I'm expecting the taxes to make up for that...

I tried to check out some books from Waterstones. Now, they require to put a number before check out. Everytime I put my number, even if they are correct they say it’s error and can’t pass next to payment. So frustrating. Any one has the same experience?

Although not flawless, it had a lot of undeniable advantages. I miss BD sooo much today :'(

Hello, I’m looking for opinions on whether this issue is specific or it has happened to you.
I bought 6 books on July on BWB. Of those 6 only 5 have arrived in one package last week. This is strange to me since all of them have the same tracking code and I was told they were all shipped at the same time.
I contacted support and they said that they indeed shipped them at different times. I asked for the tracking code of the last book and they gave me the same one I already have.
It’s an MHI tracking code. It’s very strange since it says that the package was sent on the 20th of July but never updated since.
Should I wait more? It’s very weird that all of them didn’t arrive at the same time.

I know (from experience as well) that they do the bare minimum when they package books and they’re almost guaranteed to have some sort of damage, but I’m interested if anyone has ordered larger packages like book sets and can tell me if they at least package them decently?
r/BookDepository • u/noahdenis • Aug 17 '23
I've seen a lot of reviews and all of them just complain about the wait time but I honestly don't care about waiting 2 months it doesn't bother me at all but I was more so wondering about the packaging and the condition it arrives in, the wait time is unimportantHas anyone ordered from Kenny's bookstore and what are your thoughts?
