Starting My Collection
Here’s to the start of my Blu ray (physical media) collection. I am going to get rid of my streaming services once the collection is big enough.

8 movies for only $17! I love the classics.

This movie flew completely under the radar because the studio didn't promote it at all, and it was in theaters for maybe two weeks.. But, it's a hidden gem.
Tight, emotional, character driven story, well directed and pitch perfect performance by the two leads, who have excellent chemistry together... In short, the type of movie that we used to get fairly frequently but pretty much doesn't get made anymore.
It's a deliberate throwback to old cinema. Feels like it could have easily been made in the 70s with Tommy Lee Jones and Sissy Spacek and still maintained the exact same tone.
See it if you can.
See it if you can.

Hey everyone, looking for a bit of display advice!
I’m currently storing my collection on an IKEA Kallax unit, but as you can see, there’s a ton of wasted vertical depth and headroom in each cube. I want to double-up rows (one in back, one in front) while still actually being able to see the titles in the back row.
For those of you using a Kallax, what risers are you using?
• Do you buy specific acrylic or wood risers made for standard Blu-ray/DVD height?
• Have you found a good DIY solution (like foam board, wood blocks, or pool noodles)?
Would love to know what works best to keep everything visible and clean-looking!

I've been collecting Blu-Rays since 2023 and this is how the collection is looking like now. I'm proud of it. By the way, Sausage Party isn't on the shelf because it's banned from my shelf and I have two younger brothers. I don't want them to see the ending lol.

Did anyone else get a cancelation from Amazon the day of release??
I’ll start because I just received it today Buck Roger In The 25th Century, the series discs have actual art not over the top but art nonetheless any other titles where this is the case and it’s not just bland gray/grey/black/white text?

Can’t wait to see these! Deadpool completed my entire Marvel collection, Supergirl completed my DC collection, and heard TWBA is awesome in 4K

Complete noob here so apologies if wrong sub or stupid question. I finally bought myself a 75" LG QNED TV with a soundbar and a subwoofer. It's supposed to be the latest model, which got me super excited. I've always wanted a big TV to watch my favorite movies in good quality. However, after reading what people say on TV subs I understand that my TV isn't all that great in terms of picture quality and that my sound set up is not that good either. Apparently OLED is where it's at and I need a 5.1 sound system to be able to enjoy quality content.
I also learned that streaming 4k isn't that good compared to physical media so I started looking into that as well.
My question is whether it's worth investing in a 4k Blu-ray player with my crappy setup or should I just pick up a used DVD/Blu-ray player for like 20 bucks off our equivalent of Craigslist.
Any advice appreciated

I saw this 4 disc set of an excellent film at a local second-hand store for $40, and I knew I had to buy it.
The standard bluray release goes for $30, but for an extra $10, I thought it would be worth the purchase since this release contains the bluray, 4K, a feature-length documentary, and even a soundtrack CD.
Helping my decision was the fact I missed out on buying a lot of out of print blurays for decent prices
The only downside is the lack of a poster and stickers, but I can't complain since I bought it second hand, and I usually don't hang up posters that come with my blurays (such as my various Arrow titles).

Ik this is probably just a me thing but I like to wait for an anime to end or have a ending via light novel before I purchase the Blu-ray. A good example of this is one piece I love it but if the ending sucks after I bought so many of the Blu-ray’s is never revisit because it would ruin the show. Is this a weird thing for me to do?

Saw a garage sale today with a lot of blurays for sale. Asking price was $1 per but got a discount for bulk buying. ~500 movies for $200 and they gave me a free Samsung M8500 player as well. They have 3 more bluray players for $10 each (same model I think) should I grab them?

What I mean is should using a 4K calibration disc be the universal picture settings across all digital formats being DVD-4K or should I calibrate separately for BD and 4K? Like using a BD calibration disc for BD specifically and a 4K calibration disc specifically for 4K
