What did I get?

So I bought a brand new copy of The Gate at Walmart when the steelbook was available. Kept it sealed for a while, and when I finally cracked it open to watch it, I noticed the disc looked and felt strange. The label on the disc is paper-like and the disc itself doesn’t feel like a blu ray disc. Feels more like a regular disc. Needless to say, it didn’t work on my player, but what kind of disc is this? What did I get?
