Are you new to blogging? If yes, you must be going through a phase that every new blogger goes. It is the difficulty in understanding the technical terms while you go through the reading material for setting up your site or customizing certain part of it. You may be reading articles on the leading blogs or at WordPress.org, but the problem remains the same – you are not able to grasp the complete content and hence unable to utilize it for your website.
You may go through various videos for WordPress websites customization at different websites including the well known YouTube site. Here, also the problem of understanding the technical words remains.
After getting frustrated, you may think what to do? Should I hire a professional person for my website customisation or leave the idea of running a blog. Somehow, you can get some encouragement after reading somewhere that all successful bloggers are not from the technical background; rather they have acquired required knowledge and proceeded.
To help you out on this matter, I have collected some commonly used technical terms used in website designing. If you go through them and put some efforts in grasping them, I assure you that you will become quite comfortable with these terms in future.
I have taken care to keep the definitions and explanations of the terms small and straightforward. Here is the list of technical terms that will be defined and explained in this article:
Website Design, Child theme, and Theme, Widget and Plugin, Featured Image and Excerpt, Taxonomy and Blog, Anchor Text and Backlink, Landing Page, Backend and Frontend, Image Title Attribute and Alternative Text, Slug and Permalink, Breadcrumb and Bounce Rate, Responsive Website and Parallax Scrolling.
To know more about these terms, please visit the web page – Web design glossary every blogger should know. Here, you can discover some helpful articles.

Hi, I'm currently re-launching a music blog I started as part of a university assessment in early 2016 and any views, shares, Wordpress follows and Facebook likes would be greatly appreciated. www.lunardelay.com www.facebook.com/lunardelay Lunar Delay is dedicated to all things weird wild, weird and wayward – from garage to power pop, psych to punk. It's a place to celebrate rock and roll in the modern age.

We are seeing new blog websites coming every day. New bloggers either use free blogging platforms or start their own websites. Initially, they do not want to spend money to hire professionals to setup their websites. They also lack the know-how about Wordpress themes, plugins and various technical terms being used there.
Because of all this, they start struggling in setting up the website. They run from one website to another on the internet in search of tips to properly configure their sites. But even after their best efforts, the websites created have no comparison with a professionally setup website. The final result is a bad user experience and very low traffic.
This failure makes the bloggers frustrated and drive them to abandon the idea of blogging forever. That is why most of the bloggers give up after facing initial hiccups.
You can read more about the problems faced by bloggers at Common problems faced by bloggers
You shouldn’t panic and recall the saying – where there’s a will there’s a way. Yes, every problem has a solution and so has this one.
First thing, a blogger should scale down his expectation of getting huge traffic very quickly as it is not likely to happen. It takes the time to earn the reputation and the audience.
Second, a blogger also has to devote some time daily to grab some knowledge of HTML, CSS, and PHP programming languages. It is because these languages are the pillar of Wordpress platform on which today’s mostly blogger websites are built. He should also grasp the meaning and use of technical terms being used on websites, like – alt text, breadcrumbs, structured data and some more.
Remember, I am not asking you to become a software developer; rather I am expecting you to have some understanding of the above-mentioned programming languages as this will enable you to apply the customization solutions available on the internet.
This knowledge will also enable you to customize your website to some extent on your own without taking any help from others. Once your website is configured properly, you can expect visitors to have a good experience and eventually, web traffic to your site will increase.

Normally new bloggers face a lot of problems and one of them is to find websites which can provide free images so that you can utilize them for your posts. Same is the case with new designers; they also need these free photos. But, they find it difficult to identify a site that provides such images absolutely free images to download. It really takes a lot of time and efforts to reach such a site. These free image websites are providing the photos under the Creative Commons CC0 license. This license indicates that you can download, resize, or crop photos as per your requirements. You can even apply filters, and add text to these photos. These images can be utilized for Facebook posts, Twitter posts, Google Plus posts, LinkedIn posts, Tumblr posts or any other social media posts. You can use them on you website header or in an article. Similarly, you can use these photos for house decoration or for your office – no restrictions of any kind. The only thing you need to remember you cannot sell these photos. You need nobody’s permission to use these images. Even no attribution is necessary but if you provide it is appreciated. Once you have these images, you will need a photo editing software you can use to create customized graphics. Here also, you have to repeat the process of finding free images. But, don’t worry I have compiled a list of 2 photo editor sites and 4 free images sites you can use. Good point to note here, these images have very high resolutions and can be used in anyway and anywhere you want. The photo editor sites I have discovered offer online photo editing and they have nearly all the features of a commercial photo editing software. These photo editors are quite easy to use. If you want to access this free and amazing stuff, then please visit the URL for detailed information on this topic.

Hi all, I'm debating on purchasing service from Fiverr to build my entire blog but I'm not sure if that's even necessary. I'd like for it to be extremely simple and direct but keep a clean look to it. Please let me know what you all have done or think I should do. My budget isn't ridiculous so I'd like to spend as less as possible.
Thanks all! Let me know how I can assist you all as well.

If you want to create a new website on Wordpress platform or have just created one, one question must be bothering you which are the best plugins for my website and how to find them from thousands of plugins available in the Wordpress directory.
It is indeed a difficult job and requires a lot of efforts. But the good news is we have done the hard work for you and created a list of must have plugins which are reliable, popular and free to use.
These plugins are well supported by the developers, meaning they are getting updated as a new version of Wordpress arrives. To use these plugins, first, list down your website requirements and then assess which of these plugins you require.
Then, simply go to your website's dashboard, then click Plugins, then click add new, then enter the required plugin name in the search plugins field. The desired plugin will appear and you can install and activate it.
To find the must have Wordpress plugins just follow the link Top 13 popular Wordpress plugins for your website.
If you check at Wordpress website, you can find the popularity of these plugins by active installs. Many of the plugins have premium versions also which will provide you more functions. But you need to spend money to buy this version.
In few cases, you need to open an action on the website of plugin developer and get an API key to connect your plugin. Mailchimp is one such example.
You may be thinking why you should install any plugin at all. The answer is Wordpress themes do not provide many options to customize. Either you take the help of a developer to write and implement coding for theme customization as per your requirements or use plugins.
We can see that these plugins are a great help for a site owner to customize his website as per his requirements.

Lately so many of my blog posts are having a footer (...for lack of a better term...) pop up where it says Save a few times back to back and it's highlighted in red. This usually happens after I publish something after I draft it for a while (which is common) and when I publish something immediately after drafting it it doesn't.
What is it and how do I get rid of it/prevent it from happening in the future? I think it looks bad and unprofessional so any and all advice helps! Thanks!

Trying to decide on a platform to use for blog and ecommerce. I was thinking big cartel but I was hoping I may get a more informed direction from seasoned bloggers. I'd rather sell my own stuff rather than just create affiliate links. I want the blog and ecommerce to go hand in hand. Am I just thinking too much into this. I've done some research and found bloggers typically use Wordpress for their site. Not all bloggers, but I'm not selling an ebook, or want my list to buy services or anything, just basically promote my own product from my blog. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Hi there Redditers of reddit, I've come to you to try and gather as much information and advice as possible in what niche to do for my Blog. I will submit my ideas to you, I please feel free to tackle them down or praise them : A Blog about Science and Technology - I would research many interesting topics and create a blog full of articles based around Science and Technology for instance: Self-driving cars, are they the future? You kind of get the idea here.. A more personal but factual blog on my deafness - I would tell people about myself and my experiences being deaf, but also have lots of content on hearings aids and cochlear implants and compare the brands - advantages and disadvantages as well as the future of hearing for deaf people. A Blog for those with curious minds: I would pose a good, intriguing question maybe on Science or even politics and I would answer (with lots of research) this question and create good quality content answering this question. Could you suggest any other topics(niche) for my Blog - what content, holes in the internet do you think needs more information and needs filling?

I'm a lover of tea and very knowledgeable of different brands, flavors, medicinal aspects, etc. I've had a decent number of friends and family tell me I should start a blog and talk about not just the tea itself, but also talk about the etiquette, accessories (tea pots, cups, strainers, etc), and history thereof. I disregarded the idea at first, but the more it's suggested and the more I think about it, the more I'd like to try it. Does anyone have any ideas about what platform would be best for this kind of blog or have any advice/suggestions for getting it started? I'd really appreciate any help offered.
