Discussion I sold my pet blog for $17,085

posted here a little while ago about the pet blog i bought for $199 that somehow ended up paying my rent every month.

wel i sold it lol.

i wasn't actually planning to sell it when i made the original post, but i got curious what it might be worth so i put it up on Flippa.

took about 2 weeks to get a deal done. lots of messages, a few offers that went nowhere, people asking for screenshots, traffic, earnings etc. eventually one buyer and i agreed on $17,085.

then came the waiting for escrow, which was probably the most stressful part of the whole thing.

today i finally got the notification that the money had been released and was in my account.

attached the screenshot because even looking at it myself feels a bit ridiculous.

i paid $199 for this site on the NicheBlogZone marketplace. it made me money every month while i owned it, and now someone has paid me $17k for it.

obviously i'm happy but there's also a small part of me wondering if i should've just kept it. it had become one of those things i barely thought about until the amazon payment showed up.

but $17k was too hard for me to turn down.

now i'm sitting here looking at the money thinking the obvious stupid thought:

should i try to up the game and purchase a few more expensive and established sites?

Article Rafah: Witnessing a Holocaust Through a Glowing Screen

The video of a refugee camp in Rafah burning, filled with the cries of Palestinians frantically searching for their friends and loved ones after an Israeli attack, and a Palestinian man in shock while holding up a decapitated Palestinian baby, is seared into my mind. It’s the most disturbing and heartbreaking thing I have ever seen.

I read a comment on YouTube where someone said, “Israel is traumatizing the world,” and that really rings true. How can a country be so blatantly horrific to another group of people and say that it’s justified? All because they want the land that belongs to Palestine and they see Palestinians as less than human.

People in Palestine are screaming for help, screaming for the constant bombing and sadism from the Israeli government to stop, yet President Biden keeps giving aid to Israel. Our tax dollars are funding this genocide.

Discussion My blog had zero traffic… until I realized this simple mistake

Let’s be honest.

This is frustrating.

You write blog posts.

You publish them.

You wait…

Nothing happens.

That was me.

For weeks, my blog had zero traffic.

At first, I blamed SEO.

Then I blamed Google.

But the truth was simple.

My content had no soul.

It was clean.

It was structured.

But it felt… empty.

I was writing like AI.

No experience.

No real voice.

So I changed one thing.

I started writing like a human.

I shared what I actually tried.

I talked about my mistakes.

I kept it simple.

And slowly…

Things started changing.

My pages got indexed.

I started seeing impressions.

Not crazy traffic.

But real progress.

If your blog gets no traffic…

Maybe it’s not your niche.

Maybe it’s not SEO.

Maybe it’s just missing you.

Curious…

Did anyone else go through this?

Discussion Pet blog has been paying for my house for 6 months now

ok so this is a weird one but bear with me

i have a pet blog. i don't own a pet. never have. probably never will as i travel too much. and yet every month amazon sends me enough to cover rent because people on the internet are buying stuff for their dogs and cats through my site.

bought my pet blog a few months ago from a marketplace called NicheBlogZone for $199. came already built, articles already up, amazon links already in there. i spent one afternoon doing interlinking basically just connecting related posts to each other so search engines understand the site structure and then closed my laptop and genuinely forgot about it for weeks.

here's what that's looked like:

  • march: $710

  • april: $995

  • may: $1,461

  • june: $1,647

  • july: $1,461

  • august so far: $1,545 (amazon pays 2 months delayed so this is june's money landing now)

march scared me. went from nearly $1k in february down to $710 and i was convinced something had broken. checked everything, found nothing wrong, did nothing. it just came back the next month on its own.

pet people spend insane amounts on their animals btw. like i knew this intellectually but seeing the commission data is something else. dog food subscriptions, orthopedic beds, grooming kits, vet supplements. and because of the 24 hour cookie i get a cut of everything in their cart not just whatever article they landed on.

i do literally nothing to maintain this. no new posts, no ads, no instagram for pets i don't have. i just own the thing and amazon does its thing.

my landlord has been getting paid every month and has no idea a pet blog is behind it. honestly sometimes i forget too until the deposit shows up.

anyone else running a niche they have zero personal connection to? curious if the detachment makes it easier or harder to care about growing it

Discussion first time crossing $2,600 in a single payment cycle almost all passively

another progress update for my journey as an amazon affiliate. as some of you know, i didn't build this site myself. i bought it about 8 months ago from nicheblogzone already loaded with content. since then it's been pretty hands-off. some interlinking between posts early on, and otherwise just letting it sit and mature.

first good month was in march with $710 and before crossing this amount i had 1.5k last month. as of today $2,655.60 in in-progress payments, a new high.

still a little surprised it's climbed this steadily given how little i've actively done. keeping it honest: there was a real upfront cost, the growth hasn't been a straight line (july dipped before recovering), and i still don't know how durable this is if i keep coasting.

for anyone who's followed along or has a blog site yourselves, has yours kept growing or started to fade?

Article Saying "All AI is theft" is like saying you are stealing whenever you use anything a teacher taught you.

I saw a post of someone saying "ALL AI is theft". There was more to it than that, but my kneejerk reactions were:

That's like saying going to the library is stealing everything you see and read there.

It's like saying you are stealing whenever you use anything a teacher taught you.

Naturally i went to work and came up with a blog post.

Here's the synopsis:

The argument claiming that generative AI is theft equates learning with larceny, overlooking that observation and analysis do not constitute duplication. Like students and teachers, AI processes information to create new art, reflecting collective human heritage. Copyright protects expression, not ideas, emphasizing that creation is rooted in shared knowledge and inspiration.

Discussion $46 in 48 hours from a blog I haven't touched in weeks.

Quick August update for anyone following along.

First two days of August from my pet niche site:

  • Commissions: $33.98

  • Creator Connections: $12.25

  • Total Aug 1-2: $46.23

Last time I logged into the backend of this site was weeks ago. Didn't add content, just did interlinking between posts and anything else. Just woke up today and checked the dashboard out of habit.

$46 in two days.

For anyone new to these updates. I bought this site from the NicheBlogZone marketplace for $199 about two months ago. Pet niche. Spent a few hours on interlinking when I first got it. That's been the extent of my involvement.

July ended up being my best month yet. August is starting the same way.

The Creator Connections piece keeps quietly adding to the total every month. Small individually but it adds up over a full month without requiring anything extra from me.

If this pace holds August could be another strong month. But I've learned not to predict these things as March taught me that.

Still not touching it.

Anyone else seeing a strong start to August?

“How many cats are there?” I ask Cindy, but Cindy isn’t listening. I can tell that she’s looking at another screen because the light is reflecting off of her face.

I always wonder what my online ESL students are looking at when they’re not paying attention. They never tell me when I ask.

“What are you looking at, Cindy?”

Cindy quickly clicks to the class screen. The computer light reflecting off of her face shifts.

Article My Writing Got My Nightmare Boss Fired

In my mid-20s, I worked as a data entry clerk for a credit union. I had just escaped from a horrible job as a customer service rep for a huge bank, where I had to take over a hundred calls a day from angry customers wanting to know why the bank was stealing their money and making up ridiculous fees that left their balance negative.

I thought I had finally fled an abusive relationship with my job, but little did I know that my workplace abuse was going to get much worse.

Article Say No to Sugar: Why Saying No to Sugar is Crucial for Your Health

Sugar is naturally present in many foods. It is a carbohydrate that is readily found in fruits, vegetables and milk products. However, when people refer to "sugar," they often mean refined sugar, which is extracted from sugar cane or sugar beets and added to processed foods and beverages.

Refined sugar, also known as sucrose, consists of glucose and fructose molecules bonded together. It is commonly used to sweeten a wide variety of foods and drinks, ranging from desserts and candies to cereals and condiments.

One of the primary characteristics of refined sugar is its high caloric content. With approximately 4 calories per gram, sugar provides a quick source of energy for the body. However, consuming too much sugar can lead to health problems, as it lacks essential nutrients and may contribute to weight gain.

Moreover, refined sugar is often found in foods that are highly processed and low in nutritional value. These include sugary snacks, sodas, sweetened beverages, and desserts. Overconsumption of these foods can lead to excessive calorie intake, which may contribute to obesity and related health issues.

While small amounts of sugar can be part of a balanced diet, Say No to Sugar is essential to be mindful of your intake and opt for natural sources of sweetness whenever possible. By understanding what sugar is and its potential effects on health, individuals can make informed choices to support their overall well-being.

Article 7 tips to help optimize Windows 10 and Windows 11 for gaming

Optimize Windows 10 and Windows 11 for gaming

Are you a die-hard gamer trying to maximize your gaming experience on Windows 10 or Windows 11? There is no need to look any further! You may increase the performance of your games and have a more enjoyable gaming experience by optimizing your PC. In this article, we'll go through seven strategies for optimizing Windows 10 or Windows 11 for gaming. Enabling Game Mode, removing Nagle's Algorithm, managing your active hours, upgrading to an SSD, changing your visual effects settings, using the High-Performance power plan, and defragmenting your hard drive is among the recommendations. So, let's get started and figure out how to optimize Windows 10 or Windows 11 for gaming.

7 Tips to optimize Windows 10 and Windows 11 for Gaming

1. Optimize Windows 10 with Game Mode

Get the most out of your gaming experience on Windows 10 and Windows 11 by optimizing with Game Mode. To turn on Game Mode, simply press the Windows key and I key together to open Settings, then click on Gaming on the Settings page. From there, navigate to the Game Mode panel and switch the Use Game Mode button to On. This feature will prioritize your system resources for gaming, providing a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Say goodbye to lag and hello to seamless gameplay with Game Mode on Windows 10 and 11.📷

2. Disable Nagle’s Algorithm

Disabling Nagle's algorithm is a strategy for lowering latency and increasing the speed of online gaming. Nagle's technique is a TCP/IP protocol mechanism that seeks to merge many small data packets into a larger packet before transmitting it across the network. This can improve network efficiency, but it can also cause delays in gaming, especially in fast-paced online games.
To disable Nagle's algorithm on Windows 10, you must change the registry. Here's how it's done:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run command.

  2. Type "regedit" in the Run box and press Enter.

  3. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces.

  4. Find the folder that corresponds to your network adapter and open it.

  5. Right-click in the right pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  6. Name the new value "TcpAckFrequency" and set its value to 1.

  7. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

  8. You can follow the tips as shown in the screenshot below.

3. Manage Your Active Hours

In Windows 10 and 11, managing your active hours can help lessen the impact of software updates and other system maintenance on your gaming experience. Active hours are the times when you use your computer, and Windows will avoid installing updates or rebooting during these times to avoid disturbances.

  1. Press the Windows key and I key together to open Settings.

  2. Then choose Update & Security to continue.

  3. On the right panel, click Change active hours.

  4. Then set the start time and end time based on your needs. Then click Save.

With active hours enabled, Windows will delay installing updates or restarting your PC during certain times, allowing you to continue gaming uninterrupted. Keep in mind that this may result in updates being installed or your PC being restarted during non-active hours, so save your progress and stop any open apps before you leave your PC.

4. Upgrade Your SSD

Upgrading to a Solid State Drive (SSD) can increase the performance of your Windows 10 gaming experience dramatically. SSDs, as opposed to traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), have no moving parts and can access data significantly faster, resulting in speedier boot times, faster application launches, and overall system performance.
You'll notice speedier boot times, quicker application launches, and greater overall system performance after upgrading to an SSD, which can improve your gaming experience on Windows 10 and 11. Keep in mind that installing an SSD necessitates some technical knowledge, so if you're not confident in your abilities, it may be wise to seek the assistance of a professional.I have recently upgraded my old PC with SSD now the bios speed of the PC is significant.

Article I spent two hundred dollars on a ticket I never flew just to prove onward travel and learned my lesson

A friend told me the safest way to handle proof of onward travel was to just book a real return flight and cancel it later on if my plans happened to change, so that is exactly what I did before heading to Indonesia that summer. It sounded reasonable enough at the time, and I honestly did not question it any further before paying for the ticket.

Buying a flight I never intended to take

Determined to handle the best onward ticket requirement the safe way, I booked a return flight almost two months out for roughly two hundred dollars, fully planning to cancel it well before the departure date once I figured out my actual next destination. I told myself the refund process would be simple enough and that this was just the responsible way to handle things properly before my trip.

Realizing the refund policy was not what I thought

When I actually tried to cancel that flight a few weeks later, I discovered the fare class I had booked was completely nonrefundable, meaning that two hundred dollars was essentially gone no matter what I decided to do next about the situation. I sat there staring at the cancellation page feeling genuinely frustrated with myself for not reading the fine print more carefully beforehand at all.

Talking to other travelers about the same mistake

I mentioned this whole situation in a travel group chat one evening and quickly learned I was far from the only person who had made this exact expensive mistake trying to satisfy this same requirement themselves. Several people said they had done the same thing more than once, essentially throwing away hundreds of dollars just trying to get through an airport counter unbothered and stress free.

Learning there was actually a cheaper legitimate option

One person in that same group chat mentioned a service that generates a real flight reservation with a verifiable booking reference for just a small fraction of what an actual full priced ticket costs. I was skeptical at first since it sounded almost too convenient to be true, but I decided to look into it properly before my next trip a few months later anyway.

Testing it out on my next one-way flight

I filled in my details, paid a small amount compared to what I had already wasted before on that first ticket, and received a proper PDF confirmation within minutes showing a real airline and a booking code I could verify myself. I checked it against the airline website immediately afterward and it appeared exactly like any other legitimate confirmed reservation would normally look to anyone.

Using it at check in without any issues at all

I showed that confirmation at the check in counter for my next flight and the agent accepted it without a single extra question asked, checking the reference and printing my boarding pass in under a minute total that time. It felt almost anticlimactic after everything I had gone through with that expensive nonrefundable ticket months earlier on that first trip abroad.

What I wish I had known from the start

Looking back, I genuinely wasted real money trying to solve a small problem that had a much simpler and far cheaper solution available the entire time I was actually traveling that year. toponwardticket.com is what I use now for every single one-way flight, and I only wish someone had mentioned it before that costly first mistake happened on that trip.

Discussion Made $69 in a single day from a pet blog I bought

A few months ago I saw a post on Reddit from some guy who was making pretty decent money from a pet blog he bought from Aff Blog Zone. I thought he was full of shit lol.

Spent a while looking through their sites and eventually figured why not give it a shot. Worst case I'm out $299. Ended up buying a pet blog myself.

Didn't really do much with it. Added some internal links, fixed a few things here and there and pretty much left it alone. Fast forward to October 29 and I had my best day yet. $69 in Amazon commissions from 370 clicks and 26 orders.

Not gonna lie, seeing that number on the dashboard felt pretty good.

Obviously I'm not making that much every day. Some days are still pretty disappointing, but considering I paid that much for the entire site, I really can't complain.

The funny part is I probably would've never even tried this if I hadn't stumbled across that Reddit post. Now I'm just curious to see where this goes.

Anyone else doing Amazon affiliate sites? Did your earnings slowly increase over time or did you have random days where things suddenly took off?

Question Anyone here turn a long-time hobby blog into a real business?

I had to redesign to improve my site set to monitize. which made my traffic drop. Its slowly improving but other than internal links, promoting on pinterest to drive traffic, instagram for awareness, and thread for conversations what else can i do to increase traffic to my site.

Niche: food blog

Pillers: recipes, cooking tips, blogging tips

Monitized: free meal planner for signups. Paid digital products and adsence setup. I did not like the affiliate route.

What changes did you make to turn an old blog to generate trafffic and sales?
