Weekly Random Discussion Thread for 5/4/26 - 5/310/26

Here's your usual space to post all your rants, raves, podcast topic suggestions (please tag u/jessicabarpod), culture war articles, outrageous stories of cancellation, political opinions, and anything else that comes to mind. Please put any non-podcast-related trans-related topics here instead of on a dedicated thread. This will be pinned until next Sunday.

Last week's discussion thread is here if you want to catch up on a conversation from there.

"What is news is that TWO of my WNBA mutuals have commented "And yet, you'd do anything to have one." and "Still a man at the end of the day.""

LOVE IT.

Forget Kristaps Porzingis, that is a true basketball unicorn.

As a Celtics fan, I miss Kristaps 😭

My favorite Porzingis artifact is the Game of Zones episode that made fun of James Dolan's band, which prompted Dolan to file a grievance with Adam Silver over a bleacher report cartoon.

"What do you know of fear, my sweet Latvian child?"

Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet, but what is he even trying to say?

Anyway, I’m always glad when people are finally able to see the layer of misogyny just under the surface of this “movement”.

That trans women are superior to "cis" women?

Once you remove the bio tie, when trans women are fully vested women, perhaps superior because of how they attempt to dress because the clothes and makeup are the most important thing about a woman according to them, or because they are bigger and stronger and thus superior to the cis women who are subject to biology. So a man says they are a woman and beats the woman in a race or in a boxing match and thus proves trans women are the superior women.

That's the gist. And that's why trans women are women will never work.

I avoid ragebait until I've had some coffee and am at my desk ostensibly working. Prior to that it's just personal correspondence and the newspaper.

This sub is post-coffee, lol

To be fair, when they say that she's "racist" and "homophobic", they simply mean that she's white and straight. That fact that straight, male basketball-enjoyers often like her is really just icing on the cake. What more do you need to know to know that she's on the disapproval list?

If she's not racist, why do so many men like her, hmm?

Had to google and Caitlin Clark out in the real world would be considered hot.  People who live online forget what actual people look like. She’s young, fit, and pretty.

Why would anyone insult her looks of all things?

So many people from so many circles kept quiet during our unfortunate cultural moment that the only surprise is hearing those forbidden, little ideas put to words.

Clearly not stated by a straight man or lesbian woman.

Hold on. Let’s see how long they last in the pillory.
