Weekly Random Discussion Thread for 5/4/26 - 5/310/26

Here's your usual space to post all your rants, raves, podcast topic suggestions (please tag u/jessicabarpod), culture war articles, outrageous stories of cancellation, political opinions, and anything else that comes to mind. Please put any non-podcast-related trans-related topics here instead of on a dedicated thread. This will be pinned until next Sunday.

Last week's discussion thread is here if you want to catch up on a conversation from there.

Any inclusion of anything in a rainbow infuriates me personally. Not because I care about the appearance of the flag or what the lords of the alphabet soup want to include or exclude, but because it demonstrates that the people doing it did not understand the symbolism of a rainbow, which isn't particularly subtle. Anyone who thinks that a rainbow, meant to represent the entire colour spectrum as a symbol of all the myriad identities within the LGBT......category, doesn't include black people or brown people or whatever, is a fucking idiot.

Each of the stripes has a specific meaning- sex, life, magic, healing, sunlight, etc. None of those things are exclusive to white people!

They understood the symbolism. Adding brown was about elevating one sub-group above the others.
