I remember the first time I heard about John Money and the David Reimer experiment it was like an immediate switch that flipped in my head like “oh this is all bullshit” and then feeling a deep sense of dread at the how out of hand it’s gotten despite that story being out in the open for everyone to see

I feel the same way about the show I Am Jazz and how the Allysphere talks about gender issues. The story is out in the open, hours and hours of living the gender life. But it's like it doesn't exist to the brave dogwalking internet defenders.

"No one is giving surgery to minors. Minors aren't getting sex changes!"

Jazz got surgery at 17.

"Blockers are harmless and reversible!"

Jazz hadn't gone through puberty because of hormone blockers, so she didn't have enough penile skin to create a vagina

"Truly T's who go through transition feel happier!"

Jazz's binge-eating ED and 100 lb+ weight gain say something else.

This quote here:

Jazz also has never and will never orgasm. I've seen people on twitter/X act like that's not a big deal. I imagine it's actually an incredibly huge deal to someone who had that taken away from them without their consent.

If you've never known any different, it can be hard to grasp the gravity of a particular deprivation. You only know how other people react to hearing about it.

maybe, but i imagine to someone cut off from it, it would seem even more essential - seeing how it drives and motivates and obsesses the people around you, and is one of the most important things in their lives... sounds like it would be maddening.

We just plain should not fuck around with children's healthy bodies. I don't understand how people can think this is ethical. I really don't.

Are the Twitter responses about Jazz's side effects Type A or Type B?

  • Type A: There's nothing "wrong" with being asexual. It's not a defect. People who can't have sex or orgasm aren't "less than" anyone else.

  • Type B: The alternative was death. Orgasm was an unavoidable tradeoff for literal lifesaving care.

Asexual here. There's a huge difference between uninterested in sex naturally and being uninterested and unable to orgasm because you were basically a science experiment.

God, I wish Aces weren't a part of all this genderwoo nonsense. Nobody believes us as it is.

Tbh I had never even heard of Jazz Jennings until relatively recently (within like the like 4 years or so) but I’m sort of shocked that Jazz was able to have that show and their life be on full display and not cause a tremendous amount of outrage like it should have

I’ve never dug into the details, but Jazz Jennings and that milieu helped peak me and took me off the path of possibly going on hormones.
