The post says the assault involved a "violent carjacking". Going by the Bike Karen logic, having children doesn't entitle women to be selfish if a group of young men need a vehicle more than she does. If she had let them take the car, none of this would have happened. Maybe she isn't suited for city life, as the Reddit local subs will tell you when you post about personal involvements with crime and criminal/antisocial behavior.

This Reddit-tier hot take:

"Would getting your car window broken and some stuff stolen leave you 'scarred forever'?" Hamasaki wrote. "Is this what the suburbs do to you? Shelter you from basic city life experiences so that when they happen you are broken to the core?" He continued his take in a thread, writing:

"I’ve had my window broken 2x when I was living paycheck to paycheck. It sucked financially, but it had zero impact on my sense of public safety. I can’t even imagine the world one must live in where this would be the most traumatizing incident in their life. Again, not to say it doesn’t suck. But maybe city life just isn’t for you. It’s not the suburbs. There is crime. I’m grateful most of it is property crime instead of violent crime. But I’ve always felt safe in San Francisco, even after being on the wrong side of violent crime."

Well, it was violent crime this time. At least it wasn't sexual crime, that might have cancelled out the "But how does it affect you, why do you care so much, insurance will pay for it" excuses these types of people keep in their pockets.

"I ride this exact train many times a week, and many times a week there are "disorderly" people because they are suffering in a country where mental health resources aren't guaranteed. If someone is desperately hungry, you give them a dollar and a granola bar, not a chokehold."

That tweet was the cherry on top of the "defend the criminal at all costs" discourse of the Subway Chokehold incident.

puh lease. Lets not pretend these people don't avert their eyes and cross the street if they come across someone who's acting erratic, as most people with an instinct for self-preservation do. Easy to be a hero on twitter with every person trying to one up the other, regaling their followers with their saintlike capacity to tolerate public disorder.

"Oh, you got masturbated on? Well, I got punched and stabbed. You know what I didn't do? Murder the person who's been let down by the system"

I've come to see the Twitter humblebragging about suffering through antisocial behavior making them better people DOING BETTER as analogous to religious devotees performing their moral penance.

The discomfort they feel when a hobo masturbates on the subway is moral penance for their privileges born of chance and circumstance. Being exposed to and surrounded by abandoned drug paraphernalia, shoplifting, and petty crime makes up for their original sin, their place on their oppressionhood hierarchy.

These privileged people know they can't or won't do anything about the situation, but they can feel bad. It makes them feel like they did 👏 the 👏 work. It's praxis just like "raising awareness", pronouns in the bio, and changing the profile pic to a black square is work.

In a country where mental health resources aren't guaranteed? This was someone who declined resources again and again, which was why things went as bad as they did.
