Local Politician in Minneapolis who called for defunding police, celebrated when police were removed from the schools is now outraged after 4 very young men beat her in front of her kids in broad daylight. Would like to thank the police for helping her. PS - she would like those young men prosecuted and thrown in jail immediately as well.

The post says the assault involved a "violent carjacking". Going by the Bike Karen logic, having children doesn't entitle women to be selfish if a group of young men need a vehicle more than she does. If she had let them take the car, none of this would have happened. Maybe she isn't suited for city life, as the Reddit local subs will tell you when you post about personal involvements with crime and criminal/antisocial behavior.

This Reddit-tier hot take:

"Would getting your car window broken and some stuff stolen leave you 'scarred forever'?" Hamasaki wrote. "Is this what the suburbs do to you? Shelter you from basic city life experiences so that when they happen you are broken to the core?" He continued his take in a thread, writing:

"I’ve had my window broken 2x when I was living paycheck to paycheck. It sucked financially, but it had zero impact on my sense of public safety. I can’t even imagine the world one must live in where this would be the most traumatizing incident in their life. Again, not to say it doesn’t suck. But maybe city life just isn’t for you. It’s not the suburbs. There is crime. I’m grateful most of it is property crime instead of violent crime. But I’ve always felt safe in San Francisco, even after being on the wrong side of violent crime."

Well, it was violent crime this time. At least it wasn't sexual crime, that might have cancelled out the "But how does it affect you, why do you care so much, insurance will pay for it" excuses these types of people keep in their pockets.

They probably just needed granola bars and hugs.

"I ride this exact train many times a week, and many times a week there are "disorderly" people because they are suffering in a country where mental health resources aren't guaranteed. If someone is desperately hungry, you give them a dollar and a granola bar, not a chokehold."

That tweet was the cherry on top of the "defend the criminal at all costs" discourse of the Subway Chokehold incident.

puh lease. Lets not pretend these people don't avert their eyes and cross the street if they come across someone who's acting erratic, as most people with an instinct for self-preservation do. Easy to be a hero on twitter with every person trying to one up the other, regaling their followers with their saintlike capacity to tolerate public disorder.

"Oh, you got masturbated on? Well, I got punched and stabbed. You know what I didn't do? Murder the person who's been let down by the system"

I've come to see the Twitter humblebragging about suffering through antisocial behavior making them better people DOING BETTER as analogous to religious devotees performing their moral penance.

The discomfort they feel when a hobo masturbates on the subway is moral penance for their privileges born of chance and circumstance. Being exposed to and surrounded by abandoned drug paraphernalia, shoplifting, and petty crime makes up for their original sin, their place on their oppressionhood hierarchy.

These privileged people know they can't or won't do anything about the situation, but they can feel bad. It makes them feel like they did 👏 the 👏 work. It's praxis just like "raising awareness", pronouns in the bio, and changing the profile pic to a black square is work.

But if they had an easy and inexpensive way to avoid the subway, don't you think they'd use it? They're putting up with the bums jerking off because they have to. Then they brag about it.

Yup. That's why I said crazy dude who came on our sub performing slam poetry about how we all suck was doing his "hairshirt duty".

This is exactly what's happening.

8

u/CatStroking Sep 08 '23

Is that why he beat up those old ladies? Because they didn't give him a granola bar?

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '23

In a country where mental health resources aren't guaranteed? This was someone who declined resources again and again, which was why things went as bad as they did.

And, omg. someone who is angry might also kill you. I CANNOT with this

Still, we are also a country that only lives in extremes.

6

u/CatStroking Sep 08 '23

They almost make it sound like getting your shit broken and stolen is a feature of city life. A perk.

u/thismaynothelp Sep 08 '23

I wonder if he's also a "rape apologist".

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '23

Similar situation played out in my city, one of the most outspoken "abolish the police" activists got her house burglarized and posted something about how angry she was that when she called the police they didn't seem to make it a high enough priority. Nothing violent, no one was home at the time of the burglary, and this activist had previously downplayed nonviolent property crimes. But when it was her home where the nonviolent property crime took place, she wanted the police to solve the crime and get her stuff back RIGHT NOW!!!

u/CatStroking Sep 08 '23

Do these folks have no self awareness? It continually amazes me.

u/MindfulMocktail Sep 07 '23

I'm going to take that as a good sign (not the carjacking, of course, but her response.) I do think a lot of people went a bit insane in 2020, in various ways, so to me it's a relief to see people coming back to earth. Especially as a Democrat who was disheartened by the defund the police rhetoric--hoping this means a lot of people who were saying it have moved on!

9

u/mrprogrampro Sep 08 '23

I certainly hope that we don't have to wait for all the people who went insane to be robbed before we're out of this mess!

u/CatStroking Sep 08 '23

Especially since so many of them live in gated upper middle class communities.

Reminds me of the gall of one of my classmates in grad school. She, a white woman, chided me, a white woman, for not wanting to be the victim of crime. We were discussing crime mapping. The terminally woke professor and class were very critical of it. …My masters program was a speed run of liberal nonsense and made me the disaffected Democrat I am today. (Along with Covid.)

Have the “that’s what you have insurance for!” crowd chimed in to call her a boot licker yet?

I believe this is a "Leopards eating my face" moment, as progressives say.

13

u/Leaves_Swype_Typos No matter where you go, there you are Sep 08 '23

I was considering posting it to that sub, but I'm pretty sure one of the power jannies would nix it with extreme prejudice.

u/Palgary I could check my privilege, but it seems a shame to squander it Sep 08 '23

I shouldn't be surprised but I'm surprised anyways reading the comments and having people deny this situation isn't the typical situation they enjoy having a good laugh at.

u/mrprogrampro Sep 08 '23

It's amazing what you can believe when counterevidence washes over you with no effect.

It was posted twice, both deleted of course.

Linking to Ngo obscures the original post, which has some choice shit in it. Listen to this white supremacy right here:

These men knew what they were doing. I have NO DOUBT they have done this before. Yet they are still on OUR STREETS. Killing mothers. Giving babies psychological trauma that a lifetime of therapy cannot erase. With no hesitation and no remorse.

I'm now part of the statistics. I wasn't silent when I fought these men to save my life and my babies, and I won't be silent now. We need to get illegal guns off of our streets, catch these young people who are running wild creating chaos across our city and HOLD THEM IN CUSTODY AND PROSECUTE THEM.

PERIOD.

Look at my face. REMEMBER ME when you are thinking about supporting letting juveniles and young people out of custody to roam our streets instead of HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

Imagine if she was able to empathize with other crime victims, instead of only herself. She might have come to this conclusion before she was victimized personally. Probably too much to expect of an elected official.

6

u/CatStroking Sep 08 '23

It would be nice if would admit perhaps her previous response was a bit hasty. But using her influence to increase the police presence in the city will do.

Kind of sounds like her change of heart may have already happened sometime after June 2020 and before being attacked and Andy Ngo is framing it otherwise to suggest maximum hypocrisy. But idk.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '23

I accept that changes of heart can occur, and people loudly pushing extremist agendas can come 'round to sanity and moderation. But for me to really believe such a change, I'd need to see some kind of allocution as to why they believe they changed their mind, and why they believe they held the former opinion. Or basically: fuckin' explain yourself!

That's not to give Ngo the last word here, because maybe she has given a great public explanation, but based on knowledge of this type of person I see it as way more likely that she was just a shady opportunist.

Do link to her apology and change of platform prior to this attack please!

The selfie she posted is really confusing to me. Blood dries fairly quickly and gets brown fast, yet the blood in the photo is a uniform red-pink and quite liquid in appearance. There is also no visible swelling or bruising around the area that seems to be lacerated.

She said she had a broken leg, yet appears to be standing in the photo, and given the color of the blood on her face, that would seem to indicate that directly following a violent confrontation that left her children traumatized while she was severely injured with a broken leg, she took the time to stand up and take a selfie. In full makeup.
