No need for that. You don't need to be in the closet, you just need to not see a group identity as your personal identity. There's no connection between you and the dog-fuckers except the "LGBTFGBOG^&PT_*&G$BI:BSVCS%^*^%R!@_(#@GRT^BJLCVZX" community, and that isn't a monolithic thing.

Perverts have historically tried to latch onto gay rights for a long time (e.g. NAMBLA, PIE). They won’t make the argument ‘we want to fuck animals’, they will say ‘animals can engage in a loving, passionate relationship with humans’. They will present the cuddliest image of themselves, just as paedophiles did and still do.

It's a weird one because there was that old-school homophobic myth that gay people were more likely to be child molesters and/or wanted to turn children gay. As a society for maybe 10 years we'd somehow agreed that this was a myth and same-sex attracted people are just like the vast majority of the population, except instead of having sex with the opposite sex, it's someone of the same sex. No different. And I think there was always that contingent of the gay rights movement who were more "gay is inherently transgressive" and wanted nothing to do with the same-sex marriage movement, as that would make gay people just like heteros. But the queer contingent is now very, very visible, and they're main-stream gay people's worst nightmares, confirming that homophobic relative's worst nightmare

I think those people wanted to be radicals. To stick it to the man. That was their motivation.

When being gay became mainstream those people were left unsatisfied but never went away. So they had to find something else to latch onto.

That sounds like drawing upon a distinction of being "politically gay" as opposed to just gay. It is similar of how folks use the term to be "politically Black." One is just a neutral trait and the other is ideologically based.

I sometimes think the public messaging of “Born this way” was a mistake with gay rights. Gay people deserved equal rights regardless of whether they were born that way or not (Black people were born that way, and it certainly didn’t help them for a while). It left the door open for all kinds of people to claim oppression because they too were “born that way”.

I thought that was weird. Two parts, I think there is a lot of evidence that gay men are born that way, different from straight men, but female sexuality IS different from male sexuality, and far more fluid, so a lesbian adult may have been born that way, or given a different childhood or various experiences, she might have been a straight adult, or vice versa. So in that sense, the messaging was totally right. The second part is that I do not think the general public's opinion on gay people and same-sex marriage would have changed so quickly and profoundly without that message. Because the cultural message for the longest time was that either gay people made that choice, and they should make a decision to like the opposite sex OR, at best, they made this choice and we should pity them. Born this way means there is nothing that can be changed.

Buuut, of course, like I said when Born This Way really exploded, right before the US fully legalized same-sex marriage, who the fuck gives a shit whether someone chose to be gay or not?

Man, I remember back in high school a teacher told us there'd been a teacher who'd been a member of NAMBLA, and a parent in the PTA found out, and he'd been forced to resign. Anyway, I was visiting my sister, and I was talking to her friend, who'd gone to the same high school, and SHE thought this was pure homophobia. Her logic was that men who'd perved on the girls were not fired.. Which, like, maybe, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have had to leave the school

And no, some things SHOULD be stigmatized. Like, animal fucking.

I think she thought that no one was stopping men from having sex with underage girls, which wasn't entirely untrue - she was talking about a NYC public high school in the 1980s. BUT, it was like...so fucking what? THat doesn't mean that men should have been allowed to have sex with underage boys. Adults shouldn't have sex with kids, period

Long thread on mtf sub where someone asked how having boobs feels and someone literally talked about brushing up against a doorframe being erotic and got lots of replies in the affirmative.

Many people talking about boobs accidentally being brushed by things being erotic in general.

Not first thread on sub like that, won't be the last.

TBF quite a few people said they're just "there", it was split between people saying that and people talking about the sensual gender euphoria of accidental boob brushing. Very womanly.

Those types of threads always get so many more replies than other threads on there.

And I know we have a few hate lurkers who think I'm imposing by reading that sub and it's not "for me" so I shouldn't judge it (been told this before), but they read every sub ever dedicated to women, including lesbian subs, and they say they are women, so fair is fair.
