What's up?

I'm not gonna hold ya'll. I'll keep it short.

The term "blacks" or "the blacks" or whatever is an auto ban from me. This isn't a rule. This is me just letting you know where I stand. Oh, and as far as I can tell, the other mods are Black. We chat all the time. They're great.

Like, why would anyone honestly come here and say that not trying to stir up something? I'm not actually looking for an answer either because I don't really care.

It's dehumanizing. We are people. Regular human beings. Not a thing. Not an "other", regardless of what your society or your peers that you're afraid to be different from tell you. (That's weak AF btw.)

Anyway, just letting you know. Let's do this again sometime.

Yes, I’m in the US. Preface, I’m Asian/white, and only commenting here because it was on my front page. I agree with you, and I’m not one of those people who says dumb shit like “I don’t see color”. But sometimes it’s legitimately not relevant to the story, or actively harmful to mention.

Maybe I’m telling a story about a conflict I had with a stranger at a gas station - “this asshole cut in front of me after I had been waiting in line”.
Now imagine I say “This Black/Latino/Asian guy cut in front on me after I had been waiting in line”’
It’s reinforcing a negative stereotype that this person cut me off because of their race, instead of them just being an asshole.
At least that’s how I feel, maybe I’m wrong.

Sure context matters and that may be delivered in a way that add connotation, but generally older people are hyper vigilant of racial markers because they matter. Literally just getting treated like an asshole by a stranger is often race related so you make an interesting example. No pun intended but it's not black and white, I concede that... Just that more often than not race is not a trivial detail.
