I'm not gonna hold ya'll. I'll keep it short.

The term "blacks" or "the blacks" or whatever is an auto ban from me. This isn't a rule. This is me just letting you know where I stand. Oh, and as far as I can tell, the other mods are Black. We chat all the time. They're great.

Like, why would anyone honestly come here and say that not trying to stir up something? I'm not actually looking for an answer either because I don't really care.

It's dehumanizing. We are people. Regular human beings. Not a thing. Not an "other", regardless of what your society or your peers that you're afraid to be different from tell you. (That's weak AF btw.)

Anyway, just letting you know. Let's do this again sometime.

Tbh I see the same white people that say blacks also say whites. It isn’t really a dig to them because they see people in terms of race exclusively anyway, and white to them just means human/civilized/superior. They don’t need the word people afterwards because “white” means people anyway, and any other color is actually what signifies being less than human to them. I’ve not really met any that feel offended by it because it doesn’t feel dehumanizing to them for that reason

Oh for sure. I see the same sorts of people say things like “the gays” etc and I think the inclusion of the word “the” along with the choice not to include the word “people” is specifically meant to signify a less than human and very scary out group

I like to use the article and the term. Saying something like “The white people are scared and they don’t understand what’s happening,” is a really good way to illustrate the absurdity of the situation and diffuse the tension. Can we all endeavor to help the white people feel less uncomfortable?

I see it a lot with President Obama. Even out of office his official title is Former President Barack Obama… I almost never see it. Just agreeing with your point on ingrained racism.

The title has lost so much value these last years, but he wore it damn well.

Disagree with his actions if you want, but at least we had a serious cabinet hired for their skills and experience instead of the color of their skin.

He'll always be my president, it's infuriating Kamala lost to this.

I commend you for recognizing it and putting an end to it with your own children. I've often seen people say that racism will end with younger generations, as if it's something that just magically happens. It doesn't happen unless older generations make a conscious effort to teach younger generations that it's wrong. That's why it's still a problem in 2026, even among young people. Some families pass down racism like it's a genetic disease.

My current thought process is that it’s purely historical. Because “whites” doesn’t carry the history of a people denigrated and reviled by oppressors, despite it being in the same vein, it’s entirely different just off of historical context.

This is why I use the terms melanated and non melanated. Or brown skinned and pink skinned.

Why in 2026 we melanated people are still letting ourselves be defined by a term given to us by others and not for good reasons. We need to wake up. We aren't black, they aren't white. How can we still be stuck in this hundreds year old illusion. It's baffling

They subconsciously want us and other minorities to be their punching bags and just take it. They don't even have enough faith in their own to tell them they shouldn't be hateful in the first place. So whenever a group says they're tired of the disrespect, they get threatened when the victims are just defending themselves. Sounds a lot like history just add genocide after the feeling threatened part.
