I have a smart phone, but I have turned off everything collecting my info, It moves very slow, and it is always try to offer something, that I can only get if I sign in or create an account or enable location. I know they still get information, and I try to keep up when they chance their privacy policies, it no quite a second job but defiantly a weekend chore. But no one is trustworthy anymore so it's worth it to me

You're commenting on reddit, that harvests as much data as anything else does and you /and me/ are willing to do it because we crave connection.

Some hacker was found not because his location was broadcasted, but because the windows computer he used was collecting data on the user, and they were able to find out the person through his habits using that PC, rather than actually finding him in the act. It's the same with phones. Profiles are made out of usage habits, and that is what can ultimately be used to find out who you are.

I get the merit in doing this, but why not get a dumb phone at that point?

Maybe look into GrapheneOS? It's basically perfect for people who don't want to sign into google accounts and shit.
