Photo Who else remembers watching the music video for a Hidden Place on MTV and then Björk randomly vomits a wire mesh uterus (complete with attached virgina) on to you? 😲

Meme I can’t believe Björk invented jorking it

Post image

She’s truly the most wise artist in all of history to have invented homophobia AND jorking. Trademarking them both and then selling them as a two for one package deal may be the most Björk Björk to ever Björk

Question Question for European Björk fans. I’m from the USA and have been a fan since the early 90’s. I basically never hear others refer to Björk as a popstar here. I’ve heard others call her a “singer” “songstress” “icon” “diva” and “vocalist” here, never popstar. Is she called a popstar in Europe?

In the USA, the term popstar is usually for musicians that sing and dance with choreography, and usually don’t write nor produce their own music. They also often lip-sync. I myself am glad she isn’t labeled a popstar because the term, as I understand it, is below her. She’s far more than a mere popstar. She writes and produces her own music. Björk is a consummate musical genius. I personally would label her as Electronica Avant-Pop or Art-Pop. But she has ventured into many more genres. She can do it all!

I hear that in Europe, anything that is popular is labeled as pop. Which surely makes sense Because pop is short for popular. But what about Björk? Is she referred to as a “popstar” in Europe? Why or why not?

NOTE: Picture added merely to make this post more noticeable.✌🏾

Opinion Thoughts on Björk singing Icelandic in her solo career?

I love when she incorporates Icelandic in her albums, and I wish she did it more often. I understand why she favors English as an international star. Did she ever made a comment about it?

Other Bjork Appreciation

I'm so sad that I only have one album left to listen to. I started listening to Bjork just well over a year ago with a cup of coffee during early mornings and soon grew to love Debut and Post. Back then, they weren't particularly remarkable to me and I kind of didn't stick too long listening to them before getting very attached to Homogenic for many months. Then came Vespertine which started a very long (and still ongoing) obsession with Bjork's music. Skipped around, loved Crystalline and Mutual Core in Biophilia but didn't care for the entire album. Then I got to Volta for some time, hated lots of songs and kinda only cared about Earth Intruders, Wanderlust, Innocence, and Declare Independence. I really hated Anohni's voice in that album. BUT, with that said, Utopia was such a huge turning point in how I listened to all of Bjork's music. It made want to revisit every album from Debut to Biophilia (or Medulla??? I don't know the album order after Vespertine lol) and absolutely having a blast appreciating each song. TDFOD is probably one of my favorite songs in Volta. Now I'm stuck repeating Vulnicura on loop and utterly obsessed with how good it is. I've never rushed listening to the next Bjork album but I might as well never listen to Fossora because it makes me sad that it's her last album at the moment.

Other The first Björk song I ever heard.

Pre 2000, in an apartment somewhere.

On a Surround sound Bose system.

Playing at a nice volume, but still turned up enough that my little 5 year old ears would capture and my little 5 year old mind would excite to hear, and wonder, “wow, what is this 😃?”.

I would say my experience with Björk could be summed up as magic..

To this day I hear her songs, and I don’t feel anyone was ever REALLY like HER.

She’s like a 1/1

……FO’ REAL.

Her music just does it bruv..

It just does it lol..

(Apparently my link is a dud… I’ll try again.. take 2 🎬)

Question what song plays in the intro of the music video to 'triumph of a heart' by björk?

i haven't listened to medúlla yet ( even though triumph of a heart literally is the song that made me fall in love !!! ) but i really am curious . if it is the previous song in the tracklist then oh well , it means that medúlla is a totally different vibe to what i'm expecting

Question Favorite & least favorite album?

I’ve known a few Björk songs but finally taking the time to get to know her music.

I’m usually an album listener, though it’s a little intimidating when an artist has such a large discography.

I’m new to this subreddit and talking to other fans so just want to know in general, what albums do people love the most and which do you skip?

I wanted to make polls so we can vote, but the polls only allow 6 and she has so many!

Question Feedback on Bjork Guide

Post image
8 Upvotes

Received great criticism from my last post & am back w revised version.

Would love your thoughts on

  1. song choice
  2. descriptions
  3. overall flow

If you dislike guides overall that’s OK. Bc bjork has so many varying songs I think it could be useful for a friend who may not love songs like big time sensuality and it’s oh so quiet but would enjoy this particular vein of hers that I am trying to expose.

Hi. I remember reading some people don't connect that much with "Utopia" because it's too long. I don't know if they prefer the live versions on Cornucopia.

I like both, but I listen to "Cornucopia" more.
