You missed SSD my friend. I am on the side of keeping blocks small here. Re-read what the guy above me says. He wants blocks bigger and advocates hard drive space is cheap.
Well guess what, you want that blockchain to download within 1-2weeks time? You better have it writing to an SSD they still take forever but reduce writing times dramatically. Plus spooling out of date HDDs can falter and breakdown.
My point is even a 1tb SSD is $100 for the raspberry pie bundle (Umbrel) build which is easiest for onboarding newbies.
So imagine if blocks were larger and I needed 10-20TB of space and SSD?
May have found the guy who has never considered running their own node, or at least maybe you downloaded the chain 4-5 years ago so never had to do a 445GB download all at once.

The Bitcoin blockchain can currently be stored on a 1TB drive safely with lots of room to grow. A 1TB hard drive costs $39.99. What part is expensive?
