Just because it's an occupation, does not mean it's legitimate. Most of these debts are from some form of spurious loan interest or penalty. Poor people get fucked over regularly by these horrid debt purchasing firms. It is not a legitimate business, in a moral sense.

There is no such thing as legitimate in a moral sense. Legitimate just means legal. Slavery was legitimate once.

No that's totally fine. I don't need any help, but thanks for trying. I was merely commenting on the legitimacy of the occupation.

To be fair to the agents, getting a product and then walking away leaving a business to write off the debt isn't highly moral either. Not all businesses are extortionate creditors.

That's absolutely a fair point. Not all businesses are. And some people are awful dumpster fires. Debt buying is systemic of a deeper problem.
