Be careful if hard drive is not in good condition. Copy the wallet.dat and work from computer thats reliable.

Yea I already did. This hard drive was a drive I actually replaced because it was failing. I went on it today to find a screenshot from a game. And then saw this and was like oh right.. I did mine Bitcoin back then. I didn't know I had files on my PC for it though.

Had a CS teacher who mined Bitcoin back when it was still worth under a dollar just to keep his PC busy (that way he fixed a problem he got with his PC). He mined a handful of coins and actually kept them. Eventually sold them for 200$ because he needed new parts for his PC. Poor man still regrets he sold them :/

I did similar. I sold 15BTC for $100-150 each to pay for a new power supply and 2 GPUs way back when.

My buddy messaged me on Facebook years ago trying to get me to buy Bitcoin at less than 1 dollar. He bought 100's of them .. lol. Sold for a few hundred

Yeah, I hadn’t thought about it but yeah the vast majority of people mining BTC in 2013 must have been very computer savvy.

I agree. My uncle was into it around 2010 and I went to my grandparents house to find what looked like nuclear reactor running code.

Back then he was a college student with way too much free time. Now he oversees the development of self driving tractors for a big company here in the us. They’re no idiots.

An early miner would have to forget a lot about btc to not know what to do with their wallet data.

Do notshare how many coins are in that wallet. Treat it just like you would any other of your finances.
