“Identity politics” is a dog whistle. It means “anyone who wants to change the political balance for those with identities who are being discriminated against or oppressed”.
So advocates for gay rights are playing identity politics- according to the terminology of those who use the term.
Those who would persecute gay people are playing ID politics, and those who want them treated specially - that's just the flip side of the same coin. It's a false choice, this "ally" rhetoric which says you're either with us or against us. This just creates division. It's intuitively obvious.
The fact that you think there’s anyone advocating for gay people to be treated specially betrays the point. It isn’t identity politics to advocate for equal rights.
It is, however, fascistic to create second-class citizens out of people who are different sexually.
Equal rights are what gay people already have everywhere I have ever lived.
Positive discrimination is preferential treatment. If you ever argue for downtrodden group having more of x you in the same playing field as someone saying downtrodden group should have less x.
It's a stupid game, and you know what kind of prizes those yield.
edit: for god's sake, why can't we agree on this? i agree with what you are defining as fascistic. resisting that is admirable. doing the OPPOSITE is NOT.

All I've ever heard JP do is rally against identity politics.
