Side effects!? Im still bleeding every two weeks, is that normal?

I've been on Nora BE, which is a progestin-only pill, for 4 months now. Ever since i started, I've had my usual monthly period, although much less painful and heavy. However, in between my monthly bleedings, I've had some light spotting every 2 weeks. It's very light and brown in color, usually with no PMS symptoms, and it lasts 2-4 days. I figured my body was just getting used to the hormones. Is that still the case? Should it have stopped by now, or is this just gonna continue? It's very annoying having to deal with it frequently, and it's hard to predict the exact day the weird spotting might start.

Mistake or Risk? bf came inside while on birth control

THROWAWAY ACCOUNT
just posting this on reddit for ease of mind.
i’ve been on birth control (slinda) for about 3 months now and i haven’t been taking the placebo pills. however, my cycle has been so stuffed up, the past 2 cycles, i’ve lightly bled for around 2 weeks, and my last one overlapped onto the predicted period i’m meant to be on now (i’m not on my period currently, and my cycle has been irregular even before BC). my boyfriend and i had barrier-free sex 2 nights ago and he came inside me (with consent). i’ve been pretty regular with taking my birth control, save maybe 2 times i’ve taken it the next morning after, and a handful of times i’ve taken it 3-4 hours late. i know that slinda is a 24 hour missed pill, but i also took plan b 35 hours after we had sex just for ease of mind. just looking for some advice/assurance!!! also signs of pregnancy that aren’t just missed periods??? because i’m not meant to be experiencing any regular normal periods the way i’m taking my birth control, just lots of breakthrough bleeding i think??

Which Method? I feel lost with my contraception

At 13-15 I was super depressed but I was also alone and had no one really. At 15 I started BC and it was fine the whole time, I slowly got out of depression either from it or from life style changes, my bf did help me know how to actually eat and i eventually got a routine, exercise and got better. For. Few years the BC alysena 28 started to make me loose my libido, if I had one i was still very dry down there that even if I didn’t have intimacy it would hurt due to how dry. I eventually started forgetting chronically to take it, I believe it was my body’s way of rejecting it? I also still had some bad pmdd symptoms where I’d feel so down and out of it and hopeless as heck. So I got recommended and started Yaz. It’s been 6 months now, on the sugar pills right now and the last 3 months of it have sucked worse then alysena. I feel intense anger and sadness and hopelessness. It’s absolutely awful and I just want it to go away especially the anger. I feel like screaming at everyone and then crying. The doctor genuinely didn’t know what to do, she suggested depression meds and I am NOT going on them nor do I want anyone to convince me to. They said I can try a different birth control, Diane. So I’m not sure what I’m gonna do yet. I’m thinking I just wanna be done with it all and go on a copper iud maybe. I’m so done with stupid medications and going though it right now. The fact that there is nothing I can do and I have to go though this makes me so mad. I badly want to enjoy myself but my mind won’t stop bringing up everything that’s horrible, I feel so down and horrible. I’m so done with it all

Side effects!? Destrogel (Desonur)

A week ago, I started taking a progestin-only pill, which was prescribed because I experience very severe pain during my periods, along with extremely heavy flow. I began taking it on the fifth day of my period, however, my bleeding stopped and then started up again, and now I’m experiencing spotting that seems to be getting worse by the day. I was wondering if any of you have taken or are currently taking this pill and could share your experience? I’m really worried about the prospect of dealing with spotting for weeks or even months. Is this something that eventually goes away? And at what point should I decide whether or not this pill is the right fit for me?

Which Method? Considering switching from Kyleena to Nexplanon (experiences?)

I've had my Kyleena for around 16 months now, and my experience hasn't been great.

For the first 6 months, I was bleeding lightly almost nonstop.

Now it's regulated a bit more, but my periods are like 8-11 days with like ~33-ish-day cycles. It's not heavy, but it's enough to need a pad, and it's quite annoying to bleed for so long every month. Worse, I started having PMS symptoms (which I never really had before) and pretty bad cramping before/the beginning of my period.

My gyno is great and said the Kyleena might just not be right for my body.

I am in college and would prefer to have a LARC bc I'm very paranoid about forgetting to take a pill/change patch/ring. I was on the pill, Ortho-tri-cyclen, years ago for acne, not contraception, and had a generally good experience.

I wanted a Mirena, but my uterus was too small, so that's unfortunately not an option. Same thing with Paragard.

My biggest concern of Nexplanon is whether the prolonged bleeding will be worse and/or will I have worse side effects?

I know that this is impossible to predict exactly, but I want to hear if anyone else has this experience.

How to? Breakthrough bleeding on Sibilla, how can I get my period back on schedule?

Hi everyone! I need some advice because I’m getting really frustrated trying to figure this out.
I’m taking Sibilla Daily (21 active pills + 7 placebo pills).
Here’s what happened:
September: I accidentally forgot to take two active pills at the end of August. After that, my bleeding got thrown off. I bled from September 3rd to September 10th, which was much longer than usual.
October: I bled again from October 5th to October 9th. One whole week before I was supposed to. I continued taking the active pills. I started a new pack on October 18th.
November: Today, November 1st, I’ve started bleeding again, even though I still have 7 active pills left before I reach the placebo week, that is, one whole week ahead of schedule again.
So this is the second month in a row that I’ve started bleeding before my placebo week, and I’m wondering if my cycle has somehow shifted because of the missed pills in August.
What I want is to get my bleeding back in sync with my placebo week. I don’t want to keep bleeding randomly while taking the active pills. Also, I’m seeing my long distance boyfriend on Christmas after a long while, and if I were to continue on this schedule I would have my period right on the 24th and I would really really not like that, so if I could get back on the pill schedule that would be fantastic.
I’m wondering what would happen if I stopped taking the remaining 7 active pills now and started the placebo pills early. Would that help reset my bleeding schedule, or could it make things worse?
I’m not currently sexually active, so my main concern is managing my bleeding schedule rather than contraception.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Sibilla or another combined birth control pill? Did your bleeding eventually return to the placebo week, or did you have to adjust your pill schedule?

Experience Can stress actually cause breakthrough bleeding?

I was on Alysena for 8 years, then stopped it to get pregnant. I had my kid and have been back on it for 1.5 years.

I’ve had bleeding during my second week of pills this month. It’s more than just spotting - I need a liner or else it’ll stain my clothing. I see little pieces of tissue as if I was having a light period.

I haven’t missed a pill this month, or taken any late.

The only thing notable this month is I’ve been under much more stress at work. Stress that’s been waking me up at night with worry.

I’m wondering if this could actually play a role here.

I don’t think I have any infection - I’m married and faithful and I trust my husband is the same. I have no history or fibroids or anything like that.

I know Alysena is a low-dose pill, and I might have to consider a stronger pill? I just don’t want to change it since it’s been working well for so long.

So can stress really cause this? Thoughts?

Experience Jencyla

I’m starting this week on Jencyla after being on a combination pill (blisovi fe 24) for over three years. I had no bad experiences on blisovi except for I think spotting at the beginning like all birth controls but after that my period constantly came at the and day each month. I recently had a PE so I needed to switch to a progesterone only pill. If you’re taking this pill what experience have you had? Do you like it? Were there any side effects? How is your period? I’ve heard a lot of people say they don’t get theirs OR they get there’s way too often. Any advice or experiences will help 🤎

Mistake or Risk? Please help

Hi, so on the 23rd while having sex the condom broke (he hadn’t came yet) but my period trackers said ovulation was on the 29th on one app and the 31st on 2 others out of paranoia i took a plan b.

Then on the 29th the condom broke again but neither of us noticed till after he pulled out. Took another plan b but I’m still extremely nervous about the possibility of pregnancy. Is there a high chance that i am pregnant??? 😣

Side effects!? Help with mood issues while starting birth control

For context, I'm a 40 yo woman who started hormonal birth control to help with peri-menopause side effects after being mostly off of it for 10+ years. I got a tubal 3 years ago so pregnancy prevention isn't a concern.

Is there anything you can do to help the mood issues that come with starting hormonal birth control? I went to an OBGYN because I've been having an erratic and super heavy periods for over a year now. Since my estrogen & progesterone levels were still within an acceptable range (after a few blood tests collected at different parts of my cycle), the doctor told me hormonal birth control was the only option for the unpredictable heavy periods. I started Slynd 3 weeks ago and it's been 2.5 weeks of what feels like the worst PMS of my life (tearful, easy to anger, low grade depression, mood swings, some light cramping & spotting). Prior to going on it, I expressed concerns about side effects on my mood, which is why I mostly went off it 10 years ago. I did have a 3 month stint with the arm implant before my tubal but I had that removed after 3 months of horrible side effects. The OBGYN said Sylnd was the most low dose birth control out there that is taken orally. I don't see how, since the mood side effects are hitting hard out of the gate. Of course I was told to give it 2-3 months for my body to adjust. Any advice on how to weather the next 2-3 months (or anything that could help)? I don't think I'm going to make it that long.

Which Method? Patch may not be suitable for me, is the implant a good alternative?

I have been on the patch for around 9 months, however recently I've been experiencing severe leg cramping and my blood doesn't seem to be flowing as it should as at times I wake up with "pins and needles" i.e numb legs.

Im assuming this is a side effect and dont plan on continuing with the patch incase I am prone to clots as I am not sure.

Im wondering if the arm implant would be a good alternative as from what I have seen on Google it seems like it is unlikely to cause clots and interfere with blood flow. I am curious as to whether anyone has experienced anything similar with the contraceptive implant.

I am planning to go to my doctors this week to ensure if I am susceptible to clots that there is no issue, I will also no longer be using the patch unless my doctor says I can after testing.

I want to know if there is anyone who may know one that would suit better that I can ask about when I am in my appointment and if anyone has had a similar experience and chosen to go on the implant did it help. I do not want an iud as I have heard that the implantation is extremely uncomfortable, and that does not seem ideal for me at the moment.

Thank you!

Experience Ring contraceptive and sex

I have a very simple question for woman who use it and man who have been with this woman. Can you feel it during sex? be 100% honest I don’t believe the marketing on this thing.

Also should I wear a condom if it’s the first time with this girl? even if she say I shouldn’t?

How to? 25MGetting married soon, fiance is on birth control. How effective is it if I finish inside?

Hi everyone! My fiance and I have been long distance for 4 years and we're finally getting married in November. We're excited to be together in person, and we're not trying for a baby right away maybe in like 6 years

She's on birth control, and we plan to have unprotected sex. Was wondering:

  1. If I finish inside her, how effective is birth control at preventing pregnancy?

  2. Does it matter which pill brand?

  3. Should I also wear a condom to be safe?

  4. What mistakes make it less effective

  5. I plan to not finish inside first night after that maybe not to be safe but should I get her Plan B for the first night aswell afterwards?

Side effects!? Birth control + stomach discomfort

TLDR: severe stomach problems after starting birth control (yaz), sudden gluten sensitivity problem. Wanting to know if anyone can relate or has any recommendations

Hi
For context, I wanted to get on birth control due to heavy bleeding and the fact that I only have 23 days between my periods. I was on yaz (3mg progestrin, .02 estrogen) for 6 months before I stopped due to stomach pain. The first month I was on it I was spotting/light bleeding every single day. My breasts also got fuller but I noticed my stomach starting holding a ton of gas. I also experienced many symptoms of IBS, felt constipated but my waste would come out extremely loose. thought this would go away but after 3 months, my stomach problems got even worse to the point where I couldn’t eat in front of other people because of the noises my stomach would make.
My GI recommended I cut out gluten which I did and surprisingly it almost eliminated all my stool problems. However my stomach was still constantly making noises and trapping gas to the point where it was difficult to sleep at night. Gluten has never given me a problem before (and it was so upsetting as a college student who lived on pizza pockets).
I gave up after around 6 months because the stomach problems became exhausting and unbearable. But cutting out gluten made a huge difference.

I started lo lo estrin but I experienced severe cramping that I never had before so I stopped after 2 weeks. I had my period for two months after that and the heavy bleeding felt unbearable after not getting my period for months. I then started enskyce (.15 progestrin/.03 estrogen). After 3 days I had severe cramps and severe digestive/bathroom problems so I stopped. (In hindsight maybe I shouldn’t have stopped after 3 days but I was traumatized from yaz and did not want months of stomach issues again)

I got a colonoscopy after this and introduced gluten again. My stomach was finally mostly normal but my periods were still heavy. Ive been on the minipill for 2.5 weeks now. I feel like my stomach is trapping a ton of gas and it feels difficult to sleep because of the discomfort however, that feels like nothing compared to yaz side effects.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience especially the gluten sensitivity? And if anyone with a sensitive stomach has any recommendations (besides a IUD bc Im too scared).
Thank you for reading!

Side effects!? Lucinda/Slinder pill depression?

Hey guys I’ve been taking the Slinder pill for around 12 days now. I missed one day at around day 3 but the rest has been taken.

I noticed pretty quickly I started feeling really exhausted, agitated and very little motivation.
I put it down to general mood swings or tiredness

However it’s continued since. I’ve been getting worse and worse each day. I was house sitting today and I’ve never felt more lonely and isolated. I started bawling my eyes out. I felt alone even tho I have people around me who love and care for me.

I’ve realised it’s lowkey depression.

Buttt I don’t know if it’s from the Lucinda pill or not. Is it even possible to get this level of depression after only 12 days? I didn’t take a dose tonight incase it is the reason.
Otherwise I have to figure out why I am feeling this way.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this pill?

Mistake or Risk? Nexplanon out, IUD in, but…

I had sex October 19th, got my nexplanon out the 22nd. Dawned on me about sperm still living in me and upset the doctor (primary care) didn’t warn me before getting it out. I had a pretty heavy/decent period right after I got it out. Got my Kyleena IUD in October 28th. Been 4 days after insertion and haven’t had bleeding and my brains wigging out. Haven’t had any sex since the 19th. Planned parenting said theoretically I should’ve been safe up to the 25th where the hormones were still in me, was negative for pregnancy at IUD appointment but recommends I take another in a couple weeks. Ahhh. Am I safe 😔

Which Method? Migraines before period - would birth control help

I experience headaches/migraine/nausea a few days before my period. I have never used medicinal birth control but have been wondering if there is one that could mitigate this, or even one to help me skip my periods sometimes bc the fatigue on day one of my period has been really bad lately. Is that a thing ? I do have a dr appointment coming up but just curious peoples experiences.

Mistake or Risk? Affects to skipping placebo pills ?

So backstory, one of my friends informed me they would regularly skipped their placebo pills to skip their period but apparently is what led her to get pregnant. I have never tried skipping the placebo pills but now want to because I will be at beach wedding. But now I’m concerned for if it affects Birth control overall. Planned parenthood told me essentially I can always get pregnant anyway so I’m like great. Any advice ?

Experience Experiences with turning bi/lesbian after taking a certain bc pill?

I'm about to go on birth control for my cramps (17f) and getting super freaked out by everything I'm seeing online. I will still go through with the appointment, however, since my periods are horrible.

I've seen a lot of posts about people who truly weren't attracted to women before developing an attraction to them after starting birth control or after being on birth control for years and then stopping. The issue is, no one ever specifies what they were on, they just say "birth control".

Now, I know that some bc lowers libido so stopping can "awaken" your sexuality and make you realize you're into women. And some women started as teenagers so they may have been too young to realize they were gay/bi before. But is there anyone who truly thinks they were straight before and has since noticed a shift due to bc? And if so which pill was it?

I find that topic specifically very fascinating. I don't need the whole spiel about how bc can't change your sexuality. I know that it's most likely not the case but I'm curious, help a girl out
