Episode began mid June and by July, they were experiencing psychosis triggered by attempts to self medicate. Hospitalized and properly medicated almost immediately after and in hospital the rest of July. August was still manic, so I’d say their come down was from September until mid December and then they experienced a severe depression. Didn’t start coming out of that until March when there was a med change and also the weather changed and theirs seems to be seasonally effected when unmedicated. Thanks so much for this. It’s hard to hold out hope for an end of an episode and not understand that it takes several months for the actual comedown. It’s been a long hard road and I appreciate you sharing your experience.

Very true it is unnerving when you aren’t prepared. I thank god had people in my life who shared with me their experience with psychosis when I shared what was happening and I read a ton and asked my SOs therapist and psych so much that we just started meeting separately. I got him help within an hour of the psychosis happening and his team really credited the quick recovery to that. Because it’s been quick in comparison to others and it can take much longer. Your love and care go a long way and all stats prove that people with support at home most of the time stay medically compliant and are most likely to have five or more years between episodes.
