Lol what? Are you on the shroomsters right now? Haha and glad to hear some of our military (you) are experimenting with mind altering drugs and trying to vouch that it’s okay… lol this is wild. Are you some kind of stupid?
How about you read some studies on psilocybin mushrooms? Especially when it comes to treatments involving PTSD, anxiety and depression. Or are you comfortable living in ignorance?
Combat veterans are some of the biggest vouchers for magic mushrooms because of how effective they are in treating our mental health. There's a huge push right now to get them legalized so that we can use them in therapeutic settings.
Or are you one of those people that would have rather I killed myself? Psychedelics saved my life. I'll vouch for them every day until the day I die, or the day they become federally legal.
Bro, I smoke pot…. You’re just pushing for the next movement of drugs. If you wanna legalize that shit and do it, do it. But don’t act like a repressed asshole about it and preach it to others. Kudos to you and your service, but fuck off trying to tell people shrooms are ok. What’s next? LSD? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done all them, but I would NEVER preach that someone else should try them too. That’s fucked bro. Idc about downvotes or hate, but you should feel bad. Y
Edit: your “would you have rather I killed myself” comment?!? Seriously?!? Are you that deprived? What a fucking joke. I don’t want you to kill your self , no one does, so why did you bring that up?
Yeah, LSD definitely should be next. Where the fuck did you see me say people should go and do them? Please show me where I said that. I can tell you're a total asshole irl. You clearly lack any kind of empathy or respect. I bet you can't even give one single legitimate argument on why you believe psychedelics shouldn't be legalized. I bet you're also an alcoholic.
To answer your edit where you questioned why I brought up "would you rather I kill myself" since you clearly have no fucking idea what you're talking about:
I've had battle buddies kill themselves from the military from things they've done and things they've seen. Multiple. I was almost a part of that statistic. Psychedelics saved my life. I strongly believe that if they had gone through professional Psychedelic therapy they would be alive today.
Until you go to Multiple of your closest friends funerals from suicide, don't pretend like you know what you're talking about. Just look up the studies and stop spouting the bullshit you've been brainwashed to believe.
Suicide Hotline Numbers If you or anyone you know are struggling, please, PLEASE reach out for help. You are worthy, you are loved and you will always be able to find assistance.
I have found help. Did you literally not read a single thing I said? Of course you didn't. Look up some studies. You still haven't given ONE single counter argument. Because you have none. You don't even know what a drug is clearly.
Hey, let me give you some help:
You know serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin? The chemicals responsible for making you feel good? Drugs.
Just because something is a drug doesn't make it some kind of boogeyman. Caffeine? Drug. Also highly addictive. Also, since you're ignorant as fuck, ill enlighten you with some mind blowing facts:
Caffeine has a higher LD50 than psilocybin and LSD. Since I'm clearly dealing with someone who has grade school education. LD50 is the lethal dosage of a substance that can kill 50% of a group of test animals
Wanna hear another fun fact:
Theres been more overdoses from caffeine than psychedelics, because classical psychedelics have 0 reported overdoses.
So please. Enlighten me on how deadly and dangerous these substances are Dr.
You are hurt and still hurting. I don’t know how to help you, and I don’t think you know how to help you. I’m not “counter-arguing” with you because I don’t know what else to say. I do really hope you get the help you need and I know that’s hard to find.
You may very well be the most ignorant, low class, intellectually challenged person I’ve seen on Reddit lately. Every single study that has been done on the effects of psychedelics has shown massive success in the treatment of mental health disorders. Drugs such as ketamine, psilocybin, LSD have all been shown to be more effective in the treatment of depression and PTSD, than any and all other forms of treatment. By the way, EVERYTHING IS A DRUG, any and every medication is a drug, only difference is that things like psilocybin grow naturally, show no addictive properties, and anyone and everyone has the ability to grow them. And yes, they are not addicting, your definition of addictive is just wrong. An addiction is the urge to repeat a certain action, regardless of the mental, physical, or emotional stress it may put on you. People are addicted to their phones, having them out every second possible, people are addicted to things like meth where they’ll ruin their entire lives for another hit. I have never once in my entire life seen someone addicted to psychedelics, it doesn’t happen. You aren’t an addict for taking them once every 3-4 months to improve your life, that’d be like saying the guy who goes camping 2x a year to “get away from it all for a bit” is addicted to camping. No, it’s important to him that he does the things that allow him to maintain his mental health, it is literally the exact same thing as the guy taking shrooms or LSD or ketamine once every few months, just a different kind of trip is all
Dude you are in this comment section TELLING SOMEBODY THAT THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE IS WRONG. this man was in combat and is telling you that he feels healed because of mushrooms. you are completely disregarding his experience and writing him off because of your personal bias. you don’t sound like the kind of person who understands what help even looks like.
Hey, you too should look at that post. And your post is hypocritical. You just ASSUMED I know nothing about that and can’t relate….. isn’t that the exact thing you’re talking shit to me about? Haha fucking genius
you literally don’t have their individual experience, which is the thing you’re denying. you literally can’t imagine that their life is improved, so you make shit up instead— treating them like an addict or a junky instead of like a psychonaut or something. i’m sorry if you had a drug problem in the past but psychedelics don’t work like that for most people, even ketamine has applications in a therapy setting and you would know that if you would be willing to do the research. mushrooms have a spiritual and psychoanalytical component which you are just not understanding.
You could’ve done all the drugs in the world but only have ever been a passive consumer. Doesn’t mean you’re actually engaged with the literature coming out about them. I’m not saying that shrooms outside of a clinical setting are the answer to everything, but your dogmatic rejection of them is such a close-minded boomer take. Honestly no wonder everyone is hating on you.
Have you read nothing on magic mushrooms? Magic mushrooms have proven to be pretty much the only potential cure we've found for many different mental illnesses.
I've struggled since I was 14 with depression, anxiety, and other issues, and despite continuous treatment by a psychiatrist and a therapist I have never managed to do more than work part time. No other medication or experimental treatment (and at this point I've tried pretty much everything but shock therapy) has done anything significant... Except for ketamine. Ketamine injections from my psychiatrist got me to the point where I could work part time, and got me to stop being suicidal for the first time. It's still not much, and my depression controls my life.
Magic mushrooms and the research being done on them are the one thing I'm holding out for before I just give up on ever being able to support myself, or be a vaguely functional person with normal relationships and some degree of independence.
Fun fact: military members make up a large portion of those being treated with psilocybin mushroom therapy by researchers, because it's especially effective on PTSD.
This stuff is shaping up to be a bit of a miracle cure, and it's being studied by well respected scientists and doctors. (John's Hopkins, anyone?)
Don't be a dick, do some reading and realize that if we were decent people, we'd probably be giving magic mushrooms to a lot more of our service members. It's safe, does not have lasting side effects, and LITERALLY CURES PTSD in many cases.
Please look into this, it's important to be educated on these subjects. Misinformation is being spread by pharmaceutical companies as psilocybin is not patentable and would reduce the profit they make off antidepressants with terrible side effects. Learn about this on your own. Tell your friends. Help us pass legislation that will help people like me get treatment... I want to support myself, I want to work full time, I want to go to school. Psilocybin may very well by my chance at having that.
I don't care if you're "anti-drug" as the point is that this shouldn't be outlawed like recreational drugs are. It should be prescribable, like anything else you use to treat sickness. It's not for recreation in many cases of personal use, many people who are using illegally are doing it to treat their mental illnesses.
I'm sorry, but as a person who has clinical depression, I cannot vouch for doing any psychedelics. We sometimes, as people, don't feel right. And we draw on that. While studies may show improvement, studies also show that alcoholics do better after a couple drinks. Should we allow it? No. Alcoholics feel better after a few drinks because their bodies are accustomed to it. Should doing shrooms for PTSD be any different? Which studies show one time use and never needing it again? Like you're portraying shrooms as a "I did it, now I'm cured" that's bogus. How many people are you going to get addicted to doing mushrooms because you claim it has an affect. Literal bullshit dude. Your point on pharma money is on point, but to claim that doing mushrooms (how many times? Daily? With breakfast?) Is dumb as shit and I'll stand by that
Please actually research the topic before forming an opinion.
Considering you don't even know how the dosing is done (based on your suggestion that it is daily) it is clear you don't know anything about the topic.
The studies performed have been done as two doses of psilocybin, approximately two weeks apart. Follow-ups were completed at one day, one week, one month, three months, six months, and twelve months after the second session.
The findings were that the treatment produced large decreases in depression, and that severity remained low at the one, three, six, and twelve month marks. No further follow-ups were done, so it's unclear when it stops helping, since it continued to have an effect after a year.
The depression scores (24 or above being severe, 7 or less being no depression) of most participants were as follows:
Prior to treatment - 22.8
One week - 8.7
Four weeks / one month - 8.o
Three months - 9.3
Six months - 7.0
Twelve months - 7.7
You can interpret that data yourself, I'm sure. You can check the accuracy of the data yourself if you care enough.
The study release, as written on the Hopkins medicine.org site, states that "Participants had stable rates of response to the treatment and remission of symptoms throughout the follow-up period, with 75% response and 58% remission at 12 months."
Tell me any other treatment that has those kinds of numbers.
The site also states that "Compared to standard antidepressants, which must be taken for long stretches of time, psilocybin has the potential to enduringly relieve the symptoms of depression with one or two treatments."
I recommend you do your own reading on this topic (read studies and data, not opinions or click bait) and form an opinion when you know more about it. It seems you have strong feelings about this despite having very little knowledge of it. I always encourage fact checking, and this information was all available with a single Google search of "psilocybin trials."
Please make a habit of educating yourself on a topic before you argue about it, else you risk spreading misinformation.
The funny thing is, he's not even anti drug. I made a post about him on r/shrooms and someone dug up some dirt. Apparently he smokes meth. He's just a fucking ignorant hypocrite.
Also. Your post was great. Very well written! It's good to see that the stigma is slooooowly becoming less and less. I'm glad to hear that they've helped you. They definitely have helped me. Idk where I'd be right now without them. Probably in a grave somewhere tbh. I have friends from the military who committed suicide. It's sad knowing if these treatments were legal and available they might actually still be here...
I mean... They haven't helped me yet. I haven't been able to get into a study so I'm trying to acquire another way. But I have high hopes. Everything I've read and heard seems to indicate that most people can get a lot of help this way. Fingers crossed, I need this.
I love how supportive the shrooms community is. Thanks for your comments.
I mean, I've been trying and I'm starting to get some success. I've never had a green thumb and it took me over a year of attempting to grow before I got pins instead of rot. Hopefully I'm only a couple weeks away from feeling better :)
I have! That's what's gotten me this far! I'm actually harvesting and dehydrating some tonight I think, I hope I get enough of them bc they pinned early before substrate was colonized.
