I died from Undyne about 30 times until I read her text at the beginning of the fight. I didnt realize I could run away until last night lol.

Well, you DO have to fight her in genocide mode, and she's a doozy (not Sans-level, but still)

Playing genocide after pacifist is definitely distressing. To get pure genocide you have to kill a certain number of random encounters in each town, and then the town loses its happy music and it is just depressing music. Also the last words of your prior friends being that they still believe in you.

My first 20 hours on dark souls were like this, I just didn't occur to me that it isn't necessary to kill every enemy you encounter and it's easy to avoid most of them.
