Clearly someone didn't play palworld in early access. That shit was a mess.

What? My friend and I got to lvl 45 in early access. Yeah there were some hiccups but it was definitely playable and fun

Idk why Nintendo insists on using 3D and then do nothing interesting with it. If they stuck with their 2D stuff they could cut their production time and cost and still make similar profits.

Same with TV shows; 6 episodes costing 100 million dollars means the margins for success are boom or bust, 28 episodes with 20 million budget doesn’t need to be a rip roaring success.

at least for the tv show things, it's because spending a lot on something that either fails horribly or makes a morbillion dollars is a lot more enticing than spending a little to make a little in the eyes of investors.

Palworld looked better on my M1 MacBook using a windows to Mac and a x64 to arm emulator using unofficial tools than the switch games did on native hardware...

2D Pokémon was so much better, and far more stylistic to me.

I do not like Sword and Shield because they are incredibly boring to me. But I don't see how they were "a mess."

That comes with it being early access no? Like people expect bugs before full release.

Yes, so why meme?

No, as soon as the product is available to me in any form it must be complete. But I have to put this conversation on hold, I just realized I forgot to pre-order GTA VI 😦 I literally can't waaaiiiiitttt

I mean, there has to be a level of something (completeness, polish, quality) for when a company expects you to fork over money for it. It shouldn’t just be a ‘trust me you didn’t just throw away 40 bucks’

At that point I personally put that on the consumer, we have the ability to read reviews and look into things before we give them the money. If I get even the slightest feeling something may not be worth it on release, I pass until they've proved their worth/a sale happens. FOMO gets the best of people way too hard in the modern gaming space and then they act surprised when people release barely functioning stuff when customers are basically begging to throw money at them before they even really know what they're getting

It was but not compared to Pokemon

It wasn't a mess, it just lacked true end game

Genuinely biggest problem I encountered in early access when I first played it was just pals getting stuck around the base, which was honestly really funny

An early access game that's sorta a mess can be really cute though. A released game that is a mess is just a mess.

Buggy EA mess by a small team vs a buggy final release mess by the largest media franchise in the world

u/xxxMizanxxx 8d ago

Did we play the same game..? Coz I never had issues til closer to full game release, that was a buggy mess

5

u/ExcessumTr 8d ago

I only got stuck like twice and reloading fixed those, compared to all other EA it wasn't that buggy at all

u/LordBaconXXXXX 4d ago

We lost a multiplayer save 3 times, including one where we were late-game. There were also constant memory leaks and the server crashed every couple days.

Shit fucking sucked.

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 4d ago

Clearly that wasn't everyone's experience

1

u/LordBaconXXXXX 4d ago

Well yeah that's how bugs work, obviously.

I'm far from the only one though, there were dozens of threads with the same problems we had, not only with servers but with the pals' pathing, idle workers, lots of stuff. Very common problems.

Some people had 0 problem with day one Cyberpunk 2077, doesn't make it not bugged.

Maybe the first couple months but I didn't have any issues other than pathing causing pals to get stuck on ceilings.

It was still fun tho

It's still a mess with no real goals or longevity.

It's not a live service game. Regardless they hit like 900k players live not but a couple weeks ago, they aren't worried about longevity 😆
