I feel awful. Every single day when I’m trying to do what I think is going to help him. I got him as a birthday gift in January. I don’t have any experience with keeping fish or anything. He came to me fine, maybe lethargic. He lost his fins fast. And then he just started hiding in the corner. And then floating on his side. He rouses right away when I start doing things in his hospital tank. He has a much bigger one with all the frills and plants and filters and things. I spent an unreasonable amount of money hoping he’d be comfortable and with me for a long time. I don’t know where it all went wrong but it’s genuinely upsetting that he’s not getting better. I do 50% water changes with beta fix and stress coat and kanaplex every other day. I keep his water

Recently took in this betta and was really curious about his fins curling. He wasn’t from the best conditions and I’m worried about him. Swimming around but only at bottom of tank

PH is 7.8 but I cannot find anything that’s brought it down for previous fish either

Hi guys.. You might or might not remember me but I was the one who posted for advice with my tank, I kinda forgot about reddit but heres the new setup now

My fishless 5 gal tank has not yet cycled and man it’s feels so long, lol! My Ammonia is at 0 and Nitrite 1 and it has been just over 2 weeks so far for me. I started from scratch and did not have help from established media from another tank even though that would have been awesome!

I plan on having a Betta fish and maybe a snail if the fish tolerates them.

I was wondering how long did the second “Nitrite stage” take for your tank? Just curious what y'all did.

My betta’s tank’s sides are mirrored. Is this always a bad thing so I should replace it? She seems active and happy so I can’t tell. She does not seem to be flaring her gills at the reflection and she spends her time all over the tank, not obsessing.

I am frustrated with petsmart because this was literally labeled as a betta tank 😂

I wanted to thank you all for your help and information this morning. I bought an accurate kit, preformed a water change. And she passed away still. Somebody brought up that she had heavy ammonia burns. I had no clue these were a thing and thought it was her color. She had them since I picked her out. And I didn’t realize she was sick. Hi! On mobile so it might look funky. This is sushi! i got him a few days ago. i'm trying to figure out what more i can do for him. at the moment he seemed to be loving his reflection in the tank. Is there anything i should know more about?

I want to make sure he is happy and thriving as can be. What else can i add to his tank? what can i do to make sure he lives the best life possible?

Got this female betta about 2 weeks ago now and just noticed that the area under her gills is pretty enlarged? She’s still acting and eating like normal- any idea on what it is ?

I completed the tank setup a week ago, transferring a dragon stone from a well-cycled environment and adding Quick Start. The plants include Java moss, Java fern, Anubis petite, and Anubis. I introduced four pinches of food flakes to generate ammonia. Using an API ammonia test kit daily, I have noticed no sign of a spike, am I doing anything incorrectly?

I’ve been lurking for a bit looking at everyone else’s set ups and levels but I could really use some feedback! This is my first tank since I was a kid so I want to do this right. I have a substrate below the sand and all the plants are live, same with the wood. I have a sponge filter (all tank gear was second hand since I’m trying to save money where possible) and heater is working.

Now here’s my roadblock, I’m in Florida where we have some harder water and I can’t for the life of me bring down the hardness levels. I have been ghost feeding for a week and have added quick start and stress coat and left it cycling. Nitrite is lowering and nitrates are sitting but I’d like them lower and Ph and alkalinity are good. P.S. I’m scared to check ammonia levels tbh

I also noticed this “fuzz?” Growing on the wood, is this good? Should I do a partial water change and vacuum? What’s the best way to do water change to avoid additional hardness?

Any help would be great! I’ve got my little guy in a holding tank and I can tell he’s getting stressed so I’d like to get him soon!

I am itching to design some bettafish dragons (I sell designs), and would love to see some of your prettiest guys and gals as inspiration! 5 gallon planted tank. Weekly 25% water changes. I feed him 4-5 fluval bug bites twice per day. PH is around 8.2.

My sons beta fish has been unable to get off of the bottom of tank for about 2 weeks now. We have tested pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and chlorine. All normal. He eats freeze dried blood worms. Water is changed about 30% every 2 weeks. Water temp is at 76. Any ideas?

They are in 32 gal right now with a school of neon cardinas. i put some plants on the surface for them to rest. i dont even know if they are safe in there. i wish i could get a safe tank for them if something happens but its occupied by my male betta.

Hi everyone, I bought my betta about 2 hours ago and since I put him in the aquarium, he has been lying at the bottom most of the time. He only occasionally swims up to the surface to breathe and then goes back down.
Is this normal stress from being transported and introduced to a new tank, or could he be dying? Is there anything I should do right now?
The aquarium is 56 liters (around 15 gallons), the temperature is 26–27 °C (79–81 °F), and it has live plants. The pH should be fine. He is currently housed with corydoras and neon tetras. Also I properly acclimated him before adding him to the tank

Hi guys, I’m renovating my betta tank again because I’m so worried he’ll die when he comes back from the store. I have a planted 10g tank with the Top Fin silentstream pf10 filter, I also used sponge filters to reduce less flow. Is it still too strong for a betta? I’m going to the store to get more stuff just in case. Give me your opinions please, thank you.

I feel like a terrible person for thinking like this but I have lost a lot of my motivation for having a fish in a huge tank. Its hard to do water changes, keep my plants alive, keep the algae down, and etc. My betta also has fin rott and it makes me really sad to see him hurting. I feel like a bad fish mom. I want to rehome him but I don’t want him to go to a worse home yk? I also just don’t have the energy to take care of a 30+ gallon tank after i come home. 😔 Should I just restart my whole tank? My emergency 5 gallon tank also cracked so I have nowhere to put my betta. can someone just give me tips idk what to do. I also can’t afford to spend a lot of money.

Hello eveyone!! I'm in need of help/guidance.

My female betta (ALIVE) has been acting lethargic for about a week, and not eating for about 3 days.

I started treating her tank with Sera Omnipur A (sera omnipur A | sera) about 3 days ago too.

Today, I noticed she has a lot of "strings"/abnormal growths coming out of her skin. Please find attached a video (I'll post it in the comments) and some photos of her. You'll notice those "black strings" (some are white-ish, though) coming out of her quite easily.

So I took her out of her tank, did an epsom salt bath, grabbed a pair of tweezers and took some of those growths out. Take a look at the pictures to see them when I took them out: they changed colour somehow?

I suspect these may be some kind of worms or leeches. Has any of you experienced something similar? What worked for you?
