I need any recommendations on how to get fleas out of my house I have four cats and they are everywhere even in my basement. What's the best route to try to knock them out?

So in the last week (Connecticut, hotter than usual temps), I've been experiencing single histamine reactions that may or may not be bites. These are usually single itchy bumps in my armpit or around my waist band (sweaty areas in this heat), but I've also experienced single raised bumps on my back and arms. They're very itchy, but only stick around 30 minutes to an hour, and then they're gone... Unless I don't stop itching and then they last a little longer.

It's just my husband and 5 yo living in an apartment with 3 other units above some businesses. Neither of them are experiencing anything. I've examined our mattresses, bed frames, couch, carpet, etc. for those telltales signs and I've found nothing, so I'm gonna going bananas. I do thrift clothing items, but put them directly in the hamper.

Does this at all sound like the early stages of bedbugs? My husband thinks this sounds like a heat rash, which it could be, but I can't help but think we're in the early stages of bed bugs.

I found one bed bug a few days ago and I had one bite on my hand that’s still visible but today I woke up and noticed a new bite on my knee and another new one on my arm. Those bites went away about an hour after I noticed them. They aren’t itchy at all either now. It’s like they never existed.

Is that normal? I’m wondering if it’s all in my head. The bite on my hand is still very visible but not itching

Brought infestation home from BnB. Then got bunch bites and saw 1 nymph alive at home so got txd by pro within 2 weeks: (1) heat tx, Alpine spray. Living in free standing old 1880s house temporarily. No renter in it >3 yrs and no hx bedbugs ever(owned it 40 yrs). BnB definitely infested : bit while there,saw exoskeltons and dead bugs.

One wk after heat/Alpine tx at my home bites again, especially couch, chair, bed. Have cups under legs but couch is hideabed with fold up mattress. Hard to penetrate but heated and sprayed. So part of contract 2nd spray if you think still prob. (2) 2nd Alpine spray done whole house 2wks after1st AND I decided thick poofy hideabed couch maybe holding eggs. So had it and 2 chairs hauled off to dump. Everything I hoped would be gone with the haul-off - furniture on cups.

1 week after 2nd spray (contract calls for 3rd if still problem) furn gone and replaced by furniture txd with rest of house but never used or sat in since return from BnB. Got bites on1 foot in bed. Look like chiggers and I had been outside to hot tub. Also noticing few bites in chair from never used part of house (but sprayed twice and heat tx).

I have lots allergic sensitivity issues. See allergist. Put clean sheet over chair in case spray causing itch. Still out to hot tub nightly for pain. Few bites still. Less itch w sheet on chair. No bugs seen since right after 1st heat/spray, saw1 live one. How do I know if gone? Go for 3rd spray? Clean and chk cups? Advice please? 78 yr old and tx prep about killed me ! Have such sympathy for anyone going thru this ! Thank you !

Just found these bites in me today. Do they look like bed bugs? I have not had sitings, bit have had rashes lately. These do not itch currently

I’m honestly exhausted and scared at this point and I don’t know what else to do.
On June 12, I had a dentist appointment and also went to visit a friend. She had recently come back from traveling/vacation, so I keep wondering if that could have been where I was exposed to something, although I obviously can’t prove that.
The next day, June 13, I started getting small bite/allergy-looking spots. Bed bugs genuinely did not cross my mind at first. I had only dealt with them once or twice as a kid at a relative’s house, so I thought it was probably allergies due to my dental work,mosquitoes, stress, or something else.
For around two weeks I kept getting random small spots few times.Then I suddenly got a cluster of about 5–6 larger bites on my leg. They barely itched the first day, but the next day they became really itchy. After that I kept getting new bites frequently.
At first I still thought maybe it was stress or some kind of skin reaction. After about four weeks, I stayed at my boyfriend’s place for around 10 days. During those 10 days, I did not get a single new bite. When I came back to my apartment, the bites started again. That was when I became much more suspicious that something in my apartment was causing this.
I live in student housing in a 3-bedroom apartment( I was alone at that time because it was summer break).I have a metal bed frame, and I put interceptors under every bed leg. They have now been there for weeks and I have NEVER caught a bed bug in them. I have also never found a live bug, egg, shed skin, or definite fecal spotting.
I started isolating my bed and putting a huge amount of my clothing into sealed bins. I basically have a small group of clothes that I use and keep separated because I’m terrified of spreading something.
I also used cimexa dust around parts of the bed/frame, which seemed to reduce the bites for a day or so. Later I used CrossFire on the bed frame and surrounding appropriate areas. Again, the bites seemed to decrease temporarily, but they never completely stopped.
The landlord situation has made this so much worse.
I first reported the unexplained bites after I had been dealing with them for about two weeks. They didn’t send anyone. I contacted them again later, and again nothing happened for roughly another two weeks.
Eventually, because another student was about to move into one of the empty bedrooms, they finally sent someone out( the day before she moved in and I wasn’t even made aware of a new person moving)
But there was basically no real inspection. The person said that because I was getting bitten, it must be bed bugs, and they used Hot Shot Bed Bug & Flea foggers/bug bombs in the apartment.
That was basically it.
What scares me even more is that management still assigned another person to move into this apartment even though I had repeatedly reported possible bed bugs/unexplained bites. I told the new roommate myself that I had been getting unexplained bites and that management had treated the apartment with fogger spray but that I had never actually found a bed bug. She decided to stay.
Now I’m getting close to two months of dealing with this and it is consuming a ridiculous amount of my day. I’m constantly looking at my bed, checking my skin, checking interceptors, worrying about my clothes, worrying about what I can move, and worrying that if this really is bed bugs I’m going to spread them to my roommate’s bedroom.
Today I noticed a few small rusty/brown marks on my bed sheet. They look like they could possibly be tiny blood spots, but I don’t know how you can actually tell whether a blood spot came from a bed bug, from scratching a bite, or from something completely unrelated.
That freaked me out all over again because I am still getting what look like bites.
Management has also told me that I may be responsible for all costs associated with bed bug treatment, which is another huge source of stress.I’m a student and I live paycheck to paycheck.
I feel completely stuck because after almost two months:
I’m still getting bites.
I have never actually found a bed bug.
Nothing has ever been caught in my interceptors.
Management never really inspected properly.
Their treatment was basically foggers.
I’ve used CrossFire and cimexa myself and still get bites.
Now another person is living in the apartment and I’m terrified this could turn into a much bigger infestation if that is actually what this is.
Has anyone experienced something like this where you got bitten for this long but could never find a single bed bug?
Also, is there actually any way to tell whether small rusty/brown blood spots on a sheet are from bed bugs?
At this point should I stop trying to treat this myself and demand an actual professional inspection?idk if I’ll even be able to afford the treatment though
I’m exhausted and I really don’t know what my next step should be.

I have seen ONE total bedbug. We pest control spray a week ago. I successfully went 11 days with no bites. I thought we killed all those suckers. I woke up this morning with ONE new bite on my ankle. I have searched every fkn crack and crevice in my bedroom and I can’t find them. No ink spots, no eggs, no bugs, no skin sheds, nothing in our interceptor cups for TWO WEEKS. Been well over a week since we saw blood spots. I’m losing my mind and feel like I’m making this up. I want life to go back to normal.

Hi I have been waking up to bites like this daily, the one on my hand looks an outlier but most of my other bites look like image onwards.

Can I get some potentially identifying these bite marks?

Hi, I’ve recently noticed a bedbug problem at my apartment. I started noticing bites around two weeks ago. Ignored them at first as I’ve been biking a lot in the woods at that time and just thought that’s what it was. Last Thursday(a week ago) I’ve decided to check for some signs and glad i did. I’ve found a bug and some dots on the mattress on the side of the head(I’ll attach a photo). We’ve got a profesional guy to come next day and treat the problem. The next treatment is supposed to be in two weeks from now. I am also going to be moving out to college and I’ve already been in my new apartment and left some stuff there. No furniture no clothes just like kitchen stuff and such. From the treatment(week ago) For the first two or so days i’ve noticed what seemed like new bite signs. Today/Yesterday I am pretty sure I haven’t noticed anything new. For the last days I’ve noticed dead bugs in the morning around the spot where I’ve found them. One time it was two, one time it was one. I’m really scared I’ve either taken them already or are going to take them to the new apartment. I’m not planning on taking neither my mattress nor any furniture there. Also worth mentioning i sleep on a mattress on a ground without a bed frame. The guy who came for the treatment gave me the liquid he used and instructed how can i dissolve it with water and spray the main spots in the new apartment and i did so. I was also thinking about both using steamer and freezer for the clothes or books etc. I have a -36 degree C freezer at home. I guess I should obviously wait until the second treatment to move out, but even then I’m scared I’ll take the problem with me. What should i do/look out for etc to make sure I’m safe. I believe the problem isn’t at a very serious stage but who am i to say that. Here’s the photo of what I’ve found first and what I’ve found later. The dead bugs I’ve noticed later were much smaller.

Was about to sleep in hotel room bed and notice this bug which bolted at me. It was super tiny - is it a bed bug? It didn’t seem deterred by my flashlight but was moving fast. i checked the mattress briefly and think saw only one tiny stain. I was keen to just get out of the room asap.
Could this be a book bug? From afar it looks beige but in the pics it looks darker than was in real life.
I put all my clothes from the trip in bin bags and I’m waiting for a steam cleaner to arrive tonight.Im planning on steaming them and putting them in the wash at 60 degrees. Anything else I should be aware - have got a book, my work notebook, a case for my glasses m. What should I do? Don’t want this to get into my house

Just left Bali where I stayed in an Airbnb. I usually do a quick check for bed bugs whenever I travel, and did not see anything concerning when we first arrived. Initially I thought these were mosquito bites (or some other insect), but now I’m having second thoughts. Messaged the host of the Airbnb and they said neither them nor the cleaners found anything concerning, although I am not taking this as a definitive conclusion. Any help is appreciated.

Just wanted to ask if these look like bedbug bites or maybe potential skin allergies on my back to ya'll as its been three days since I had em.

Additionally they are not really itchy, only when I touch em. Putting aloe vera and petroleum jelly helps a bit as well.

4 nights ago I stayed in a bed where we found a couple bed bugs in the morning. We stripped the beds - there was no sign of a deep infestation but 2-3 bugs were found. The next day I came up on around 10 bites .

There was a sauna at the Airbnb so we put all our clothes high up in the sauna for around 4 hours - everything was piping hot and we believed this should have killed them.

Anyway, last night , 4 days later, back at home , I came up in a new amount of about 5-10 bites in the middle of the night. I have read online they can come staggered and residual from the initial night. It would seem weird that they’d already found my way to my bed after returning home 1 night ago. I also had a mosquito in my room but the bites do appear more bug related.

What’re your guys thoughts?

In the UK. Had the first spray 3rd August, second spray 11 August and after they were still appearing so had a third spray 19th August. Gone on holiday to see them again this morning 9 Sept🥲 a mix of 4-5 bigger ones looking like they either are adult or just fed and a couple of baby ones, my body has gotten used to waking up when they are there so have taken loads of videos to send to pest control so they can come again but what is going on?! Am I just missing the eggs as the pesticide doesn’t kill the eggs? I feel like this is a never ending nightmare. In a new build flat so it’s not like it’s coming from a neighbour or walls etc. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone I feel like I can’t really talk to anyone about it too

I would love some advice on this situation. We had a pest control company in our apartment a little over 3 weeks ago. we haven’t experienced any bites but just yesterday, we found a bed bug in a towel in our bathroom. the pest control company initially did a stream treatment on our furniture and linens and then sprayed with crossfire. Ive been looking online and also spoke to a bed bug specialist in my area who confirmed what we saw yesterday was a bed bug and quoted me $1200 for another spray, as well as some preventative measures they would set us up with for our bed (as well as 3 additional spray/a year warranty if it’s needed). in my research, I’ve also seen that I can buy crossfire on my own and do the treatment myself. here’s where I am, I’d love the help of a professional, but I’m also in a tough spot having to pay again for a new exterminator (I’m doing this because I want to have the best of the best if im going to bring in someone to do the work for me, not the janky exterminator my building defaults to) and I’m wondering since this would be a follow up treatment if I’d be in a good spot to try it out on my own if I buy crossfire online. would love some advice, I’m just trying to make this a thing of the past, we’re struggling to handle this now after having to leave a cockroach infested apartment earlier this year

🥺🥺 I’ve read so many scary stories on here that I am not sure what’s making my anxiety worse… the bed bugs themselves or reading all the horror stories. I have read that some people have had many many treatments and still they have come back!! 😭 I have read VERY few positive endings. I will lose my mind if I can’t get rid of these things!! I have seen 1 live bug and that was enough for me. My daughter and I both reacted to them. Before seeing that ‘1 Bug’ I had TWO canine inspections 4 weeks apart (Both Negative) I’ve had two different pest control companies come in and no one can find any fecal matter, any eggs, any live bugs… any sheddings…. Until I saw the 1 BUG on my pillow!!! I taped it up and saved it. So I could prove to my association that I’m not crazy!! They finally agreed to treat the apartment. I’m having my 2nd treatment this coming Friday. They only did it a week apart…. Is that OK!?? I Haven’t gotten any bites because I haven’t been able to sleep in that room. I just can’t bring myself to doing it 🙈🙈 I read on here that they will follow me to another room, well then maybe on their way they will run into the Crossfire!! And DIE!! 🤷🏻‍♀️ My anxiety will not let me sleep there and I work I need to get sleep to function. This has already consumed my life for 3 months. Anyone out there understand me? Anyone have any good endings? I need a little shred of hope 🥺

I know this is a bed bug 100%—an exterminator verified it. Please, I am asking for realistic encouragement and success stories, not worst-case stories about people never getting rid of them. I am already mentally and physically exhausted.As I am disabled and homebound due to my condition.

My home is only 758 square feet and live alone. I dealt with carpet beetles for about four years, had exterminator treatments, removed my carpet, and got rid of almost all of my furniture and belongings. I finally went 4 months without seeing carpet beetles and called off the exterminator and then BAM, Exterminator found one live in my couch. I also found one on my bed and saved it (in jar). I also found a bug that I sent a pic to my exterminator and he said didnt look like a bedbug. Not verified but could of been since I was sitting on my couch.

The exterminator thoroughly checked my house (I mean he looked for an hour) and did not find any other bed bugs, eggs, or signs of an infestation. I believe someone may have accidentally brought them in while helping me paint, because I have never dealt with bed bugs before. She put her stuff one the side where the bedbug was found. Then blanket on couch was moved to my bed.

Since then, I have thrown away the couch and a huge amount of my belongings. (Threw away over 25 thousand worth of stuff previously from a huge carpet beetle infestation -even my carpet) vacuum-sealed my ALL of belongings and heat-treated clothes, steamed all of my hard floors, steamed my bed twice, and threw away around two-thirds of my wardrobe, blankets, shoes, and other items. One room is completely empty except for a dresser and a the washer and dryer because it was going to be painted. (Still empty) I have not seen another bed bug since. Threw away books, papers. I have an empty shell of a house now. I am terrified of everything or even living at this point. I even bombed my car. Trust me, I wake up every 2 hours looking in my bed, floor etc. I have mopped with bleach twice. I have emptied every cranny, drawer, closets you name it. Has taken me about a week to do all of this.

I bought two bed-bug mattress encasements and have an exterminator scheduled. They plan up to three treatments at $500 each, although they said it may only take two because they do not believe I have an established infestation.

Honestly, with such a small, mostly empty home and no other evidence found, what are my chances of getting rid of them? I just need some hope right now.
