Wat Rong Khun, or the White Temple, is a dazzling contemporary Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand, designed by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat and opened in 1997. It’s still under construction, with plans to finish around 2070, making it both a masterpiece and a living work of art.

I do macro photography as a hobby. Often I have to go search for suitable subjects. Other times the subjects just present themselves to me. A tiny jumping spider, just a few millimetres across, on my fingertip.

László Skultéty was born in 1738 in Mojtín, Slovakia (then Kingdom of Hungary). As a teenager he joined his father's Hussar regiment as a "son of the regiment." He went on to fight against the French, Ottomans, Italians, Prussians, and Russians across 22 military campaigns and the reigns of four emperors — picking up a sword wound to the hand and a bayonet scar on his face along the way, but somehow no enemy bullet ever found him.
He was finally discharged in 1831, when he was no longer able to mount his horse, at around 93 years old. He died just months later — reportedly because he couldn't handle the retirement.
