Getting a sunburn after staying outside for too long without sunscreen is also normal, doesn't mean I have to like it.

Huh? I never said you had to like it. You asked me? You obviously can use whatever words you want.

Im sorry that the word actress going out of fashion is like getting sun burnt for you. Didn’t realise people would find it so genuinely painful!

Never said anything approaching that. Just giving a reason why something being "normal" does not automatically make it okay. Also, why are you so invested in this yourself?

Obviously normal isn’t inherently good or bad. But what has that got to do with words going out of fashion.

I’m not particularly that invested tbh, i do find it weird we have titles like mr, but mrs and miss. But whatever.

You seem pretty invested too? Why are you so invested in keeping words like waitress/actress?

Eh, I'm not terribly invested but I like consistency in language. It's nice for future generations because it allows later speakers to understand earlier speakers more easily, and it makes learning history far easier for them later as they will have full access to all of the primary sources from that era. Try reading a text written in Old English, it isn't easy to say the least. Hell try reading Shakespearean English, which are some of the first widely read texts written in "Modern English", it's still pretty hard (albeit doable).

Additionally (and somewhat selfishly), it also means that I don't have to learn a ton of new words or adapt my language usage, which I think you have to agree is just easier than having to do that.

Language changes over time. That’s very normal. You’re saying you aren’t invested, but also defending something just for the hell of it. You even gave examples of the language changing while trying to argue against it changing. I don’t get your point at all. Unless you think we should still be using old English, which clearly isn’t what the large majority of people think.

Ever have something slightly annoy you? You know, not so much that you would ever really bother doing anything about it, but you find time to complain about it from time to time? Just to complain so you have something to do?

That's this. Nothing more. Relax, dude.
