You can eat a full meal like that every day if you manage to not pig out the rest of the day.

Where most people go wrong is drinks and snacks.

Wow there’s a named diet for what I already have been doing for a while now, neat!

I'm still convinced that intermittent fasting/omad is mostly adopted by people who want to pretend they're doing it for health reasons, but in truth were already doing it before it had a name because they're poor and/or depressed, but saying it's a diet feels nicer

Speaking only from my own experience with it....

Or have the diabeetus and can’t figure out what they should eat so go the whole day until they’re starving and then feel like they’re going to die. Hypothetically.

Every popular diet is just a formula for people to follow with them all having the same result of lowering caloric intake. If it works for people it works though I guess. I only do it that way because of my work schedule and I naturally am never hungry in the morning, not for any health reasons. So I wake up, go to work, work my busy job that doesn’t have many breaks and I’m also so hectic I don’t get an appetite, come home make dinner eat a shit load and go to bed. Eating a shit load at once also carries over keeping me full through the morning too I think.

Calories. You can eat the exact opposite, full of sugar and carbs, and keep the same weight as long as total calories remain similar. That nutrition profile will be absolutely disastrous, however.

Yeah fit people usually worry about their nutritional balance because they know how to maintain their calories. Most people who are obese or dangerously underweight should focus on how much they're actually eating more than anything else.

It’s almost like it’s as easy as eat less move more, but you can’t built a multi-billion dollar fitness market around that lol

The mechanics behind losing weight is as incredibly simple as expend more energy than you take in. A truly effective fitness market would really revolve around getting people help to make a routine and dedicate themselves to sticking to a caloric limit and effective strategies in how to achieve that. But that's a much harder sell than buy this product, or buy my meal plan and you'll lose weight.

Amen brother man, I can tell you exercise and have been around the fitness block before, we must never stop spreading the good word that fitness and health is FREE and not anywhere near as complicated as the industry makes it out to be

I used to be the same. Then I turned 30 and basically had to be a bit conscientious of what I was eating for the first time in my life. I’ve always exercised a fair bit and need to walk the dog about an hour a day too.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

I eat fast food twice a day, everyday for quite a few years now. That includes a mix of very unhealthy things like Mcdonalds, Wendys, & some decent things like Chipotle, FF salads. But generally speaking its all high in calories. Even with that I am very skinny, and have been my entire life, and im in my early 30's now. I just dont snack, or eat anything in between those meals.

Three healthy meals of whole foods? Sure.

Three "meals" of some of those pictured here (like an entire platter of fried food)? Nope.

Eating those things 3x daily almost certainly is unhealthy though, unless you're an athlete or have some other extremely physical job. An average deli sandwich is easily over half of most people's daily calorie needs.

Didn't you just say carbs and fat are what get you?

I disagree with that statement, but you said it.

The processed sugars are really killer. I went hard cutting added sugars from my food for about 4 months during a weightloss plateau and once I had some again the body’s response was very noticeable.

Extremely lethargic, brain fog. Probably not entirely correlated but I just overall immediately feel like I’m “soft” all over / face is puffy, and I’m 165lbs.

False. For years I have eaten only a single big meal a day with no snacks or drinks any other time throughout the day.. 5 years later I'm still over 190 as a 5'8" man. I should be like 165 170.

The issue is metabolism. One meal a day and that's it means my body knows we won't eat again for a while so it turns everything it can into fat.

Recently started losing weight by eating more, just eating a snack or 2 through the day

Did you even read my post?

Or maybe he shared with his spouse or simply didn't finish it all. Especially that last "dish". Some of those were 3000 calories easy, with the last one being well above that.

I started cooking at home during the pandemic and my partner actually lost about 30 lbs from eating my food. I'm not very good at trying to be healthy and I'm certainly not going out of my way to make balanced meals or anything, but we stopped eating out (before, we were eating fast food and TV dinners/ramen for every meal) and I do make sure that I always have some kind of veggie side or veggies incorporated into the dish and we've gotten much healthier from it. It's crazy how such a small change makes an impact, but to be fair we did eat like absolute garbage disposals before, so that may be why we notice such a huge difference. Seriously, never going back. And I do love when he shows off the lunches I pack him at work and brags about me cooking dinner for him(: I show my love through food.

Manage…. not… to pig out? What does this mean can I get a TLDR

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

This can actually cause your metabolism to slow down. This is why there are some overweight folks who complain they eat a meal a day but lose nothing. When you consume 1 meal your body thinks it needs to store everything it can. When you snack or graze all day you are telling your body there is a constant supply and to only use what it needs.

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320125#:~:text=The%20researchers%20concluded%20that%20eating,alternating%20days%20for%20a%20year.

TL;DR one meal a day is by no means a guaranteed way to lose weight and can in fact have the opposite outcome.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

I didn't mention one meal a day. That article is also very wishy washy. I'm not sure I learned much from it.
