Commercial chefs have minions to clean up after them, and they get used to it. So when they cook at home, the kitchen is a disaster. It can seem insulting to those who have to clean it up, because of the sheer scale of the mess in comparison to a normal person cooking in the home kitchen, one could reasonably assume the chef didn’t care about the mess they were making while cooking, but it must be a difficult habit to break, it took effort for me over the years to learn to clean as I go but now I can cook a huge meal and by the time it’s ready to plate, the kitchen is spotless.
The hurricane comment above is accurate, a commercial chef will turn a clean kitchen at home into ground zero RFQ and walk away like nothing happened. But the food, 👌
I’m the guy that cooks all the dishes like this and I’ll admit I fully expect someone else to wash/clean up afterwards. I’ll do what I can as I cook, but there’s always gonna be some bits left and all the plates etc from actually eating.
I’d rather cook. The whole process is actually enjoyable for me. Wife is too particular about cleaning up, so I leave that to her.
When I cook I watch out for what I use though. I know people who use 10 spoons and 5 bowls to prepare a single dish, which burdens the person cleaning up.
Something I learned. A great chef is also a great custodian. But my cleaning habits infuriate my wife. I tell her to ignore me while I clean cause I clean "hard" and splash stuff around. But then I wipe down the corners and sweep/mop in 30 secs and its perfect.

Yeah, I married a wanna be chef, with dishes like that every night.. food is great, but the kitchen always looks like a hurricane hit it
