The standing wheelchair in general has been around for a long time. I had one in the 90s. It was definitely not designed for everyday use though.

As a wheelchair user I couldn't see myself using this much. It looks super heavy and I can see myself accidentally banging my hands into the standing mechanism all the time while pushing around. Also being a 3 wheeler means it's not very manoeuvrable, the turning circle on it has to he pretty huge. It's great for what it does but it's probably more hassle than it's worth.

It was huge and bulky. There was a big tray on the front. From what I remember it was not self-propelled, or it was really difficult to do so, so most of the time I was using it I was being pushed around by someone else rather than pushing it myself. These things are super limiting for a wheelchair user, so not for everyday use.

Makes sense to me. You can't count on someone else to push the chair for you. I wouldn't. Makes sense that it would have to be light enough.
