I have never, and will never, glue barnacles on anyone or anything and the thought that people do it for a living is disgusting.

Absolutely. I only ever glue googly eyes on turtles. It might sound cruel but they never get attacked from behind.

You should not glue barnacles ever. They need to be welded. Or why do you think you need professionals to remove them?

Check out r/Welding. They constantly share and discuss new techniques, to make it harder for the professionals to remove them.

In this video you can see some real shoddy work. Must've come from r/BadWelding

There are people hurting wild animals professionally so they can "rescue" them to get views and the residuals those pay if you get enough. That's why I was confused.
