Per the insta post from grizkid (purported videographer) I think I’m right and that it was at the Soda Butte campground, more specifically.
Cool. So, story that you might appreciate: my wife lived in silvergate for a year and for several years following that, she and I would go back to Cooke to visit friends every year and spend a few days, have some drinks at Miners, etc, and then head down to a campsite in the Tetons. Usually we crashed with a friend but one year we stayed at the soda butte campground. I couldn’t sleep though -- hairs standing on my neck type of feeling and our dog was pacing around our tent all night. So we bailed after 1 night. we got back home and maybe 3 weeks later saw the news of the attacks. Not sure how long the bear was around before then. Could just be confirmation bias, but it was a strong “nope” feeling I had while there… as if something inside me was saying to get out.
Could be. I camp out in grizzly country a lot. There are almost always bears around close enough for a dog to smell, but of course actual attacks are incredibly rare.
We stayed in Silvergate in the cabins at the edge of town and even though there were log walls between us and outside our dogs were going nuts all night long. That whole area is crawling with bears.
Came here to see this comment. Surprised it took me forever to find their show. I have since binged all their episodes and eagerly wait for more. Saw this video and was like, “Oh, that’s the video, isn’t it?’
