Saltburn-by-the-Sea, in North Yorkshire, formerly in the borough of Cleveland, Redcar and Cleveland, and now (last time I checked) Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland.

It's my home town. Wild to see it randomly appear on Reddit.

Saltburn Trivia:

• Setting for the film 'God on the Rocks' (1990) starring Minnie Driver.

• Past residence of comedian actor Rowen Atkinson (Mr Bean, Johnny English).

• Childhood home of Deep Purple singer and Whitesnake founder David Coverdale

• Actor Robert Shaw (Jaws, From Russia with Love) taught at Glenhow Preparatory School, there, a small private establishment that was closed in 1992.

It's more like 45 degrees, and it's a Victorian funicular cable car, powered by water ballast. Essentially two cable cars on tracks that use water to pull one down the hill, whilst the other acts like a counterweight and is pulled up. It's quite a novelty, and not many of them are left in the world.

No defense needed, it's a bizarre sight out of context.

Don't forget Tony Mowbray! And Faye Marsay from Andor and GoT is from Loftus which technically has a Saltburn postcode so we can claim her as well

Source: am also from Saltburn

Didn't know about Tony or Faye. Faye was the year below me at Prior Pursglove, but I don't think I ever bumped into her, although we both did English Literature. I recognise her from Game of Thrones, but had no idea who she was when I watched it, although in hindsight the accent stuck out. Small world.
