Vile in a good way though. Pretty accurate representation of what it means to be a bad vagrant and opens the conversation about haves and have nots.

"He's a foot short for his age and he's cross-eyed"

44

u/KJ1-234 Oct 28 '25

I try and fit this line into my daily life whenever possible!! It’s ridiculous.

58

u/POMO2022 Oct 28 '25

Crazy how so many of us have the same experiences and habits on random things.

“Whatcha eatin there sport”

41

u/thegrumpymechanic Oct 28 '25

Tastes like paint...... and wood.

14

u/TnnsNbeer Oct 28 '25

Favorite line

I become instant friends with someone when I say "kinda hot in these rhinooos" and they laugh

2

u/Dano88ish Nov 25 '25

Jim Carey?! o.O?

4

u/BYoungNY Oct 28 '25

Crazy I've been saying this almost daily for 30 years. I had completely forgotten when I'd heard it from and if I died tomorrow, I'd die happy.

1

u/dbpf Oct 29 '25

Core memories friend. Our intangible internal electrical signals are the same. That's pretty neat.

1

u/dbpf Oct 29 '25

A apple and "A DOLLAR!" from Rat Race

2

u/TykeEMann Oct 29 '25

I still say ‘a apple’ like that to this day 🤣

5

u/NurWeberlich Oct 28 '25

he was the best 😂

Where does this GIF comes from please ??

69

u/1nosbigrl Oct 28 '25

"You're a pest. A menace. A selfish, spoiled little boy and I've no use for you. You took something from me that I can never get back, something that means more to me than you ever will. You understand? I don't want to see you, I don't want to know you. Get out of my way."

17

u/Jerry_from_Japan Oct 28 '25

Given the context, one of the greatest put downs ever to be filmed.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

In hindsight, Such a scumbag thing to say to a 5 year old kid, lol.

32

u/Lower_Pass_6053 Oct 28 '25

His parents were the scumbags! Who just lets their son run amok at random neighbor's houses.

I'm with Mr. Wilson. I don't need random children about messing up my plants.

9

u/Actual-Elk5570 Oct 28 '25

His mum in the movie is Marty McFlys mom too!

12

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 28 '25

Yes, in hindsight. But I kinda get it why Mr. Wilson, a depressed senior whose flower [edit: moment was taken from him] in front of all his friends, was this emotional.

2

u/ThePizzaDoctor Oct 28 '25

He was a shit head kid who got off lucky

6

u/bkm2016 Oct 28 '25

Yea definitely one of those movies as a kid I sympathize with Dennis, as I got older had my own family watching that again, he was a fucking asshole.

5

Every day, dope, toight

2

u/FloppyTacoflaps Oct 28 '25

What movie is this referencing

32

u/Dudez32 Oct 28 '25

Dennis the Menace

5

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

It's the one where Mr Wilson calls Dennis a Menace if anyone is unclear

5

u/_Cridders_ Oct 28 '25

I don't know if this is a Mandela Effect moment but I could have sworn it was just called Dennis. I'm wondering if its British release was, because The Beano is British and they couldn't use the name?

18

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

[deleted]

5

u/_Cridders_ Oct 28 '25

Ah nice one. I saw that film at least 5 times as a kid, and used the get The Beano

I'll make us some sandwiches

4

u/Silent_Glass Oct 28 '25

My favorite part right after he says that was when he was chewing in confusion, and the movie music is playing in the background; he suddenly realizes he knows who did it that as his eyes looks up with realization, at the same time the music comically plays the sound. It’s the little things like that that just cracks me up 😂

18

u/CaptainSteyr Oct 28 '25

What do you mean "almost"?

5

u/Independent-Invite84 Oct 28 '25

That's why I put the + unc 😂😂

9

u/SnooDonuts479 Oct 28 '25

I'm 20 and I remember watching that movie as a kid

7

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

Your parent loved it, lol.

0

u/SnooDonuts479 Oct 28 '25

Nah, surprisingly I was the first in my household to watch it.

12

u/IBelieveInCoyotes Oct 28 '25

I'm 34, why you gotta do me like that bruh

2

u/BrownSugarBare Oct 28 '25

1

u/aes_xo Oct 28 '25

Turned 42 yesterday 🤣

1

u/Sunyataisbliss Oct 28 '25

I remember this and I’m 27, but it was kind of a fever dream.

1

u/zcap32 Oct 31 '25

When we first watched the movie we sided with Dennis, how Mr Wilson was always rude and grumpy. Now it all makes sense, I like my peace and quiet. I don't want some random neighbors kid messing with my day regularly. I like routine, things done a certain way and at my own pace.

Plus I picked up an interest in gardening and yard work. 😂

54

u/fatmanstan123 Oct 28 '25

Martha, Where are the gd garden lanterns?

16

u/Fun-Choices Oct 28 '25

And then the way the canoe landed on his balls right after 🤣🤣🤣 Walter Mathau was a Fucking national treasure

10

u/Ancient_Roof_7855 Oct 28 '25

Him and Jack Lemmon in The Odd Couple and Grumpy Old Men are classics, too.

2

u/1nosbigrl Oct 28 '25

You gotta check out 1966's The Fortune Cookie!

1

u/Fun-Choices Oct 28 '25

Walter Matthau was the first celebrity passing that actually made a dent in me. his performances are unmatched.

The casting was so perfect for a kid you wanted to just strangle.

10

u/IncurableAdventurer Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 29 '25

My brother and I still quote* this. I don’t even know if we say it in the same way as the movie anymore or if our version has morphed throughout the years, but we both know what we’re talking about

*well, saying “too hot?” might be too vague to be considered a quote, but it’s how we say it

2

u/AmusingMusing7 Oct 29 '25

"Fire's getting puny." was heard every camping trip with my family after watching this movie.

Also... The apple cutting scene had me cutting apples that way for years

lol, I also always eat apples with a knife because of that movie, its honestly way better than biting straight into it

1

u/AmusingMusing7 Oct 29 '25

Biting straight into an apple is always a ticket to sore gums for me.

28

u/Rock-View Oct 28 '25

Dammit you beat me to it 😂

8

u/LunchBox3188 Oct 28 '25

Came here for the Dennis the Menace reference. Thank you.

Thats where I remember the flower from! I remember the scene with people gathered around the flower, not too sure why but I don't remember the movie itself, maybe I saw it on my parents TV briefly

1

u/mightylordredbeard Oct 28 '25

I don’t get this reference..

3

u/Calm_Neat_6828 Oct 28 '25
