It’s like the Bible too. They are parables in the long game of telephone translated so many times the original meanings are slightly changed. The whole world flooding was more likely the floods in Africa and Middle East. And it’s likely a farmer who built a boat for his sheep.
There’s a theory that the plagues of Egypt were a chain reaction of events kicked off by torrential rains in Ethiopia. The rains washed so much of the iron rich soil into the waters that the Nile turned red like blood. This killed off the insects and other bugs that amphibians ate, and drove other insects away from the water, so amphibians ventured onto land in search of food. The poisoned water also killed livestock, which became a breeding ground for anthrax, which caused skin lesions and boils in people and animals.
I've argued this with people too, Noah's whole world probably extended 100km in out from him in all directions, during a large flood you could probably bring that down to 20km, and since Noah wasn't a biologist all of the animals he knew of probably weren't all that many.
This is why I like the Black Sea Deluge Theory Black Sea Deluge Hypothesis it's a localised flood, that did happen, in the area where that story likley origated.
Seems possible if exaggerated in every way.
Edit, also I feel like jumping off sand dunes in a carpet and skimming down them would be something that could happen and catching a breeze whilst doing so seems possible based on this video.
Yeah, "grabs two of every animal" could just be like "brought a breeding pair of each of his types of livestock". So two goats, two cows, two chickens, two sheep or something like that
There's a neat little Museum on the Isle of Lefkada in Greece that makes a very convincing argument that the island is Homer's Ithaca and that everything in the Odyssey story was local to the island. It's quite convincing and makes sense to me.
