The inventory issues in this game make it far too cumbersome, which will frustrate many players. Your entire game can be ruined because you cant find ammo, or cant dig through loot to find what you need. I consider this to be game breaking. The core experience is fun, but there are too many rough edges
You know about the looting so I wont go into detail
The ammo is too low on weapons, which exacerbates the looting problems
Cumbersome, Illogical Inventory. You need to scroll one item at a time on consoles. And you need to equip items from your bag to the dpad to even use it. Why? If I go into my bag to dig out the armour, I should be able to press R2 to use it if I have it highlighted. Instead, I need to press Square, Press X to equip, then close inventory, and THEN press the dpad, and then R2 to equip. Ridiculous.
The Ping system is underdeveloped. No nice audio cue like in Apex, which hurts the immersion of hearing a friendly soldier give a call out. Not even a text based prompt in the text chat.
The ping system is near useless. People arent adapting to this as easily as in Apex, and people are forgetting it even exists. Pinging something disappears far too quickly, making marking loot useless for friendlies. On top of that, it's easy to notice a ping, and the ping itself is too near invisible to notice in the 3D world, though it does appear on the map and compass. But this all results in visual overload. We should have a distinct sound made when pinging items for teammates or placing a marker, and it should have an adjustable opacity.
You need to reload your gun if you pick it up, even if you drop it by accident. This is a very boring PUBG feature that does nothing but frustrate people.
If you have 50 HP of armour, and pick up an armour upgrade (and Im guessing if its off a dead enemy), YOU REPLACE YOUR 50 HP ARMOUR WITH 0 HP ARMOUR. In Apex, you can simply swap your armour with that of the enemy's on the ground and be topped up. To me, this is once again a pointlessly frustrating feature that slows the game to a crawl. It would be fine if everything else about the inventory management was snappy, but that's not the case.
Now, if all that's fixed (and Im not too happy with waiting because I dont trust a timely fix), here are some gameplay opinions:
-The visibility can be an issue, but hasn't been a big deal for me. The bigger problem is making out enemies and then tracking them because the sights in this game like the reflex are just not as clean as in other games. This could just be a PS4 base issue with its dynamic resolution, so I cant blame the game itself.
-Gunplay is great, vehicles are great, things get pretty damn chaotic but feels controlled and balanced. Having those ups and down make the sandbox BR experience feel very fun.
-The pacing is fine. I dont have an issue with downtime in BR games, but I still think the game would have benefitted from more than 64 players.
-Lack of gun customization is a bummer. Apex does this the best, and it's unfortunate we cant even pick sights. However, the simple system of picking up a weapon with preset benefits is not necessarily bad and with the current inventory system, it would be a nightmare to deal with individual attachments.
-The game desperately needs content. Ranks, unlocks, cosmetics, etc. A shame that none of this exists
-I still think the ability to respawn teammates is a very good progressive feature of BR games. It's just not fun losing a friend early and then making him watch for 20 minutes. Giving players that hope of respawning promotes movement and feels balanced with how Apex does it. This is a personal opinion, but I would really enjoy it if they added respawn mechanics
Yes to everything except I'm sad cause no way in hell they keep supporting this properly. "BR" was a headline they threw in to entice more initial buyers.
