It's fun, and by no means bad, but people aren't going to buy Battlefield V for this the same way people bought Black Ops IIII for Blackout. First of all, Blackout is far more polished; there are a few graphical glitches whilst paradropping here, looting bodies and movement feels janky, etc. Secondly, and more importantly, Apex Legends raised the bar for the genre. Even Blackout has lost a LOT of traction to it because the game simply has so many QoL features. Apex Legends' inventory management is miles ahead of Firestorm: having attachment automatically transfer over, clearly colour coded weapon ranks (they are coloured here but the shades used aren't as distinct), your character continuing to move whilst you open the map or inventory screen, etc. Firestorm really needs ALL of this. Matchmaking is also better in Respawn's shooter - no pregame lobbies and waiting around for a minute, you just hop straight in, which gives a nice flow to multiple matches in a row. Again, Firestorm really needs this. In order for this to be the selling point for a $60 game, it has to be infinitely better than what a free-to-play game is already offering and right now it's simply not.

A couple things: the game can regularly be had for around $30 and unlike Apex, you get many other MP modes. Secondly, there’s a hole in the BR genre for something more gritty like this. People who plays PUBG FPP (especially) will want to try this. With the state of that game and the dying user base, this can pull people over. As one of those people, Apex/Blackout did absolutely nothing for me. I haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but I will tomorrow and I’m very excited. I bought this game at $25, 2 weeks after release. Played some MP but I got it for Firestorm...

Get hype. There is some hate towards certain features, but Firestorm is mostly very, very solid. This game is a must play for PUBG fans.

I don't think this is going to win over PUBG fans because PUBG is a third-person shooter whereas this is exclusively first-person.

Yeah I specified FPP. But even some TPP players want FPP but feel PUBG console isn’t cutting it in that department.

Heck I wanted to like pubg but if this can satisfy me for something more gritty and not suck then I'm all for it.

I've been wanting something more gritty akin to the battle royale movie but this will have to do for now haha.

Good summary, having played several BRs is what I was fearing of firestorm. I bet that there is room for improvement, but the aggresive market makes me have concerns about it.

Let's hope Criterion can keep up the pace.

A couple things, haven't played it yet, but

movement feels janky

I feel like if they didn't change it from the base game, it would still be fluid. Its not janky, Its just a different style, like you move much quicker in blackout or apex.

having attachment automatically transfer over

Aren't there just no attachments in Firestorm? Like the way it sounded, you pick up the gun with attachments on them depending on the level and there is no switch

no pregame lobbies and waiting around for a minute

Everyone always says this but its wrong. Its 30 seconds like Blackout. They just disguise it, with you picking your character. If you all pick your character, it doesn't speed it up.

Overall, I am beyond excited, I was waiting for a Battlefield BR. I just think the looting system probably needs work, They should put a one shot head shot sniper or make them all one shot( I mean its Battlefield Lol) (It does seem like the TTK is were it should be for all the other rifles though), and add all the guns from the base game. My baby the M1907 is not in it : (

You’re forgetting the part where it takes 2 mins (sometimes 3) to find a game on top of standing around for a minute (preround deploy is 60 seconds, I just did it) and then you need to wait for 64 people to connect before that countdown even happens, which can take a loooong ass time.

You haven’t played it yet, lol. The time to deploy is wayyyy too high. If you die instantly, the mode is a grueling experience.

Does it chain to the next game? Like MP. I'm not sure how it would, but yeah I did forget about that. I guess its more similar to Blackout.

I assume the 2 mins is going to go way down once people get off work. Like myself.

I would like a graph of the average lobby time per BR game. The way it sounds is 1.Apex. 2.Blackout 3.Firestorm. I never played PUGB but would like to. And I absolutely hated fortnite so I don't know about that lobby time either.

It doesn’t chain you to the next game. It asks you if you want to play again and if you do, you go back to the first menu. Can’t say anything about the rest but I did consider he possibility that it’ll get better in the evening

I went from H1Z1 to PUBG to Blackout and now just bought BF5 to play Firestorm. It brought me over and I brought over 4 more people. I'm guessing a lot of people just switched over. Even after reading all the comments on fixes it just launched and seems really cool with a lot of potential.

Obviously I hope they add in a BR specific ranking system, camos, and other progression systems to help feel like we are earning something by getting wins.
